Thanks for the pics

Technically that is a 5pt harness. I'm trying to install a 6pt myself.

Dan (drosen),
What are the approximate dimensions of the sub belt slot? How far back from the front of the seat?
Any problems feeding the belt through?

Check out a simple mounting guideline image from Simpson harness company that I've attached.
I don't have simpson harnesses but the rules still apply. They are slightly different for 5 pt vs 6.
As for the width of the slot, a 5 pt should be the width of the belt, perhaps up to 2 x of it just to give some room. A 6 pt should be the width of 2 belts (since there are 2) plus some room to spread them apart.
Good luck.

Based on those pictures the 6 pt slot would have to either be a lot wider than 2 belts or 2 seperate slots in order to get the belts from the harness down to their 8"-12" apart mounts without putting tension on the slot(s).

I did some quick sketching based on some eyeball work and some info from PsychoRallye and figure a six inch slot in the seat should be sufficient.

That is pretty close to the width of my 6pt sub-belt slots.

That's about right. My reverie came with a 4 inch slot and I widened it to somewhere probably around 6 inches as well. The two crotch straps actually touch in my car but they're close enough, the mounting of the straps themselves is more important.
Cheers, and good luck!

Where is a good place to get the Carabeau harness inserts?

Thanks for alll the responses everyone. Keep them coming. Unless you can fit in the Corbeau motorsport seat or the Sparco seat Sector 111 is going to sell, it looks like the exige seat or modified stock seat are the only real options.

Hey Jim how's it going? I think you sat in my Cobra Imola 2 seat at Shenandoah in September and it wasn't a good fit for you. But if my recollection is incorrect, that would be another option. All we had to do at install was shave off a little bit of the bottom front "wings" to make it fit.
p.s. Check your e-mail re: dates for the Blue Ridge Mountain Run and some other stuff.
Cheers,
BK

Do you have photos of the Imola 2 seats installed? And those are the Standard versus the GT, correct? It looks that the GT versions are 2" wider.

By front wings, do you mean the Cobra Side Plates (used for mounting) or the actual seat wings near the legs?
Thanks...

Sorry, no photos of the install. You're right, it's the standard Imola 2 seat. By front wings, I mean the actual seat wings near the legs.

If you can post a photo or two of them in the car that would be great. Curious to see the mod to the seat wings. Even if it is the new lines/shape of it. Did they have to pull back the fabric and trim the seat structure then place the fabric and padding back? Also, do you use the Cobra Side Bracket to the stock Elise rails?
Thanks for the info, I really like those seats and the prices seem decent.

I googled it and found them somewhere on the net.
About 30$ each pair very expensive for a pice of plastic but they work.
If you have problems finding them pm Me and I;ll see if I can find the bill

Are you saying you fit seats with side mount's with just a little trimming?
A:

Can't imagine those are used. With those seat mounts the seat will be sitting way too high in the Elise. If they are then mounted on top of the sliders then it gets even worse!
The seat really needs to sink down between the runners to get at the right height. Look carefully at the stock seats and how the bottom is shaped to fit between the sliders and sink below them.
BTW. This is a common complaint about Lotus own Corbeau motorsport seat. You sit too high up in it.
Bye, Arno.

Arno,
Any comments about modifying the stock seat to accept harness holes? Is this a bad idea for the seat?
Also, does anyone know the cost of having them installed on the stock seat?
