New Roll Cage installed

Interior Exterior

Q:
6 point SCCA spec cage by BSM Technologoes in Romulus. Picked up the car yesterday. The doors had to be cut to allow the doors to be closed so the interior was all removed.
Today my friend Brian and I decided to put the interior door panels back in. Although I forgot to take pictures once we finished installing them. We also finished the stereo removal. Pics of the doors (done by Larry, the custom maker of all things) to come later. The doors look stock now even with the bars running through them!
Labor alone in the roll cage totalled 77 hours. Parts cost around 600 bucks. The top fits perfectly. It's easy to get in and out since you can use the roll cage for leverage. Window nets are on both sides although I forgot to purchase arm restrains (not really sure what they are) but they're required if you run with the top off. I'm hoping we won't have too many 90+ days.

More pics. I meant to say pics of the doors coming tomorrow or monday.

Rachel,
That looks really great. Hate to ask the question, but what are approx. costs for such an install? I know you have LOTS being done, so it may be hard to extract the specific cost.

A:
I can tell you exactly how much it cost. I have the bill sitting right here! :P
A:
BSM technologies is NOT cheap ! ( talking from experience. ) I won't say any more, because it's not nice.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?? I just don't know if I should post the pricing breakdown but I know it sucked that I couldn't find any public information when I was looking to find out how much it should cost.
All my porsche club friends said it should be around 3k but I couldn't get a quote anywhere near there. I think a lot of people underestimate how much more work it is BECAUSE it's such a little car. It's harder to get things in and out, including the workers, and it takes more time to do everything.
This install including labor, parts and the nets cost around 5500 dollars. It should have been a little less but some circumstances beyond my control put the car into the shop a week later than it should have been making some overtime charges appear to get it done by the deadline. I'm very happy with the job. The welds look good and all the craftmanship is very clean.
A:
As with anything else, YMMV when it comes to custom work. Their QUALITY of work is nice ( when it comes to roll cages ). I had problems with them when a 6 week job turned into a year & a half......I paid them MANY MANY thousands of dollars......and the job still wasn't complete when they dumped it back on me.
A:
That sucks. I have had similar problems with a prominent shop but I gave up. Everytime they fixed a mistake they broke something else!

I did this kind of build with my last car, It WAS a supercharged S2000 (400 rwhp) and the build process was a blast and expensive - I had it back for 3 months before I totalled it - Be careful and if you are adopting please let me know where to send the paperwork I am leaving the Elise alone for a bit then I think the track bug will bite again!
Looks great by the way!

Arm restrains are used, so your arms don't fly outside the car during rollover.
That is a nice roll cage, Rachel. Have you had the car weighed yet? I wonder how heavy the cage is.
A:
Wow! That is intense. Good luck on the drive & be safe.

Me too,

I will find out as soon as I can.
