Droopy Hardtop headliner?

Interior Exterior

Q:
I picked up my Elise last week, and didn't notice until about 4 hours into my drive home that the headliner fabric is detached and hanging down a bit on both sides.. Not bad, but clearly not as it should be. Is this a common problem, or is it because I have a black car that probably sat outside in the Miami sun for a while before I bought it? What's the fix going to be when I take the car in for it's first service? Will they just pull it back and reglue it, or replace the headliner completely?
Cheers-
Johnny

= Warranty.
I had the same problem, first I got a brand new top. Same thing occurred with new one. So now apparently Lotus has come up with a solution... see dealership. You wanna do this on warranty because a new top cost $1,500.
good luck

Same thing happened with mine when I first got it. Replaced by the dealer with a sincere appology and I haven't had the problem with the new one yet.

The top is $1500 if purchased with the car. After purchase, I believe it's $2400. Seems like a lot for what is basically a peice of painted fiberglass with some padding, cloth and bolts.

You are referring to the "Hard Top" I am talking about the Soft Top.
Hard Top = $2,400
Soft Top = $1,500
one would think these things were cheaper but unfortunately no the case. Especially the hard top... I am still regretting not buying on with the car.

Pretty sure JaxJohnny (thread starter) is refering to the hardtop. Checkout the thread title stiggy.
I can't believe they want $1,500 for the soft top. Insane.

ooops...
Reading the thread sounded just like what happened to my soft top. I didn't realize the hard tops had the same problems.

Got mine at Prestige, had same problem.
Called them and they gave me a new one with no hassle.

One good thing about most of the dealerships; The way they handle the warranty issues. I remember BMW needed to investigate everything before being accountable for a faulty part.

Just shipped mine out today to Fox Valley...totally falling apart - started the week after I had the car, and I've been waiting on my hardtop to send it in. Anyone know what the wait time is for replacement (or repair) on average? It's my understanding they're b/o for months?

Yeah, that's where I got mine too, unfortunately I live 350 miles north in Jacksonville...
I'm going to just wait until I take it to my local dealer (Matheny)for the 1k service.
