The ideal interior "organizer" for the Elise

That Eagle creek bag looks very nice.
I've since relocated my silver bag to the passenger footwell. Admittedly it wasn't a perfect fit for the aluminum shelf, but it is for the footwell. I sort of like having the shelf open for the unexpected.
As to why to do this, here's the junk I keep in there:
First aid kit
Ice scraper
Flashlight
Swiss army knife
small roll of duct tape
poncho
sunblock/lip balm
WD40
small bottle of detailing spray (for debugging)
couple of microfiber towels
pair of latex gloves
tire gauge/pen, etc
$20 bill (cause there's always that time when you're $20 short )
Whole kit weighs less than 1 lb.

IIRC those non-touring sill bags are north of a c-note.

my mk 1 elise had a mesh ' bag ' hanging behind the seats . i found something similar at a boat shop and it now hangs behind the exige seats . not as good as elise due to harness bar but still useful .

The Touring Package federal cars sold in the States also have a mesh bag.
