Gut wing and rear clam mod, et al...

Q:
So, I should have the car back tonight, but I couldn't wait to post a couple of pics! Steve and the guys at Specialty Car Craft continue to blow me away with the quality of their work. I had the rear fins removed from beside the headlights ala the Exige, and SCC did a fantastic job of filling the spaces just right. Should have the finished vehicle back tonight!!!
A:
Wow, that looks really sweet!

Lots of pics would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks guys - I'll shoot it from every angle later on. The splitter wasn't attached yet. Also, I cut the fins out of the side scoops and did a mesh filler. They're going nuts over at SCC (on New Year's eve, I might add) trying to finish those up and get them installed. I'm super excited about that one. Cutting those fins off is anything but a straight forward job. Lotus somehow managed to design them like Eschers! One wrong cut and goodbye. Took a ton of sanding and a bunch of filler, especially where the topmost winglet leaves a gap in the frame. I know, worthless without pics, but they're on their way!

Serebo,
Most tasty! MORE PICTURES!!!!
A:
A couple more...

Looks great, can you post a few more pictures of the side vent? That's exactly the modification I'm thinking of for my car.
A:
Very Very Nice! Lookin forward to more pics!

Taking her back to the shop on Tues. to install the splitter and for the final detail... Steve normally wouldn't have released the car, but he wanted me to have it for the weekend. So... I figure pics on Wednesday. One quick observation... I had the opportunity to take it up to speed and was sure I felt the back end plant firmly, almost like a switch was thrown. In my mind, or does the wing really work this well??? Can't wait for the splitter!!

Alan, Possibly it's the rear wing working for you, but it could be just a sign of things to come for 2006. It will be a better year! Cheers for the New Year!
A:
Where are they (Specialty Car Craft) located, Alan?
Thanks.
A:
Damn Alan! I didn't know you were doing all this work to your car! I gotta check it out and see how it all looks. Filling out the rear vents next to the tail lights looks to be a PITA yet the result looks clean.

You know, Steve and the guys at SCC practically insisted on tackling that one, know how it would clean up the look of the rear clam. Looked pretty scary to me too, yet even upon super close observation, the mod looks OEM. Also, by eliminating the plastic, the rear end looks much wider as your eyes aren't drawn to the insides of the rear end...

Now that's the best interpretation of downforce I've ever heard! Cheers to you as well, Ron!

I drove Alan to pick up his car on New Years Eve. And I just wanted to let the peeps in LA know that Alan isn't just being a cheerleader (although, he was pretty close to doing cart wheels when we were picking up his ride). Steve and the guys at Specialty Car Craft do excellent work and are a pleasure to be around. Not only did Alan's car look great, we also saw a CO Elise get a new front clam. Both cars looked better than showroom IMO when Steve gave their owners the keys. It's easy to see why the shop is always filled with exotic cars. It's great to see a shop that really takes pride in their work.

A:
Jacob, are you getting the grills done by them? That's what I'm thinking about, along with pulling out the rear fins.

Rog,
I just PM'd you

Okay, splitter and wing are both on.
I don't know how to describe this. I guess Shinoo says it best: "It feels like the hand of God comes down and presses on the car."
So much for "Wing Bling." This combination is simply remarkable. Too bad there's not a wind tunnel down the street, or else I would gladly pay to see what's actually happening here. You can actually FEEL the car compressing as you hit speed.
Simply put, Sector111 has a winner here. This is a different Elise I'm driving. Dare I call it an Exi... better not, don't need the flames. But, WOW!!! Thanks, Shinoo!!!!
Oh, pics to follow. I promised I wouldn't post them until SCC had a chance to do their detail. Truth is, I'm having too much fun to leave it with them for a day. Off to Vegas tomorrow, then back on Tuesday night. Wed. back at SCC - Pics - thursday or Friday!!!! In the meanwhile... ORDER A SET!!!

At what speed do you start to feel the downforce?
