Interior Exterior
Q:
I would guess that there is some federal regulation that says the interior rear view mirror must allow you to see edge to edge of the rear window. This seems consistent with all the cars I have driven. The Lotus rear window is so close, that it actually spans a very large angle relative to the mirror. Hence, you need a large mirror. However, I doubt any regulator would consider that the headrests block most of the rear window.
I just drove with the micromirror at night for the first time yesterday. I tilted it slightly up, so that when my head is in the normal driving position, I am not seeing the car headlights behind me. When I glance at the rear view mirror, I raise my head slightly so as to see the cars behind. Hence, I only get blinded when I am actually trying to look behind. It isn't the best solution, and I am thinking of maybe some sort of flip down or detachable tinted plastic, or Cade told me that some people put a blue film on the mirror that seems to work fine during the day and provides enough dimming at night to take the edge of the bright headlights. I just would prefer no dimming when backing up at night.

Outside view next to the v1
My V1 is mounted there too. It looks like you could mount a bar between the visor pegs that would provide a more secure attachment than the suction cups.

Just installed my black micro-mirror. Everything went quite easily. I used a C-ring remover to push the retainer clip in. I took the c-ring pliers apart and used one side. Worked perfectly.
The only hitch was that I got the OEM mirror about halfway off the cleat and it just stopped. Couldn't budge it any further. Finally, I realized that the plastic housing had snapped back up and was catching the cleat, preventing the assembly from sliding all the way off. As soon as I popped it back open, the mirror slid right off.
It does take some getting used to (the small mirror), but it didn't take me long to realize I was able to see everything I needed to see - and nothing more. Add in the Multivex side mirrors, and it's perfect!

One nice thing I noticed about the micro mirror that I wasn't expecting was that it vibrates a lot less than the large stock mirror.

I just added one too. Wow what a difference! I also slid the visors off while I had the mirror off. I didn't really realize how much the mirror and visors were inhibiting my forward vission. Thanks for the install tips as well, it helped.
