What to do with the Passenger Cubby Pannel

Interior Exterior

Q:
Well it’s snowing in CT, so I decided to bond with my Elise. I always disliked the look of the Passenger Cubby cover. To me it looked unfinished. Also I’ve never liked the location of the Accessory Plug in-between the seats.
So I came up with a solution. I took my old Light switch panel that was replaced with one that came with my driving lights. I also purchased two spare Fog light LED Switches. I placed an accessory outlet (purchased from Radio Shack) in the large whole where the Start button use to be, and placed the two new LED switches where the light switches were. I have the top switch controlling the power supply to the accessory switch, that way I can turn it off without something plugged in draining my battery. The bottom switch controls the power to my Audio Amps. On the Alpine HU there is a blue wire that signals external amps to turn on. I spliced the switch on that wire rather than have high Amperage go through the switch. I can always change the uses of the switches in the future if need be, but I figured I might as well have serve a function other than filling wholes in the panel.

I love it. VERY nice idea and, as usual, well executed. Kudos!

Nice job Is that electrical tape covering the illuminated indicators? Couldn't you just leave them lit when on? Or perhaps get some vinyl cut to fit better and look more finished.

I'm going to make it look beter with new stickers, I just can't get out yet due to the snow. Also the tape isn't as visible in normal light. The flash seems to make it look worse than it is.

Great job!!!

Awesome idea! Is that a U2 edition iPod or a custom job?
A:
Scott,
Where did you get the leather sills? What was the price?
Thanks!
Steve

U2 edition. Fits perfectly in the cubby.

I got them from England Bell & Colvill. But I know that Mark Starr at HRM could have them made for you slightly cheaper than I paid and he'll get it to you twice as fast. I don't remmber what I paid, I got the center console, sills & HVAC all covered at the same time.
The Leather sills are a real PITA to install once they are covered with Leather.
The best part about the covered Sills is that my elbow no longer bothers me. I found that on long drives, my elbow would be sore. It was probably hitting against the hard surface of the plastic. Since I installed the Leather Sills, no soreness.

Not sure I would do the same thing but it's a really cool idea. Props from 0o7

I thought you dentists were all about filling holes
did you have to send them your parts to cover, or did they let you keep the originals???

Especially when it comes to women!
We’re not like you Radiologist who stare at pictures all day.

I ordered my Driving Lights from HRM & had it delivered to my office. I did the install so I kept the original panel. I’m not sure if they give the panel back to you if they do the install. Worse comes to worse you could always order another panel, it can’t be that expensive.

sorry I meant the leather covered console etc....
we radiologists do it in the dark all day long

Oh I ordered new parts that they covered. Sorry.
Also I'm sorry that you guys need to stare at pictures in the dark all day. That's got to be depressing.

actually I do a lot of needle biopsies which keeps it interesting (thats the fun part of my job)... otherwise reading mammograms all day would get boring...
