I just removed the rear diffuser, and found a surprise. The driver's side heat shield edge has rubbed a cut hole in the diffuser. There is also a chafe spot from a bolt that holds the shield on (right of the cut) and it's not far from going all the way through too. I checked the security and position of the shield and nothing appears loose or out of line. As far as the shield goes, I think I can tap the rough edge down a bit with a hammer...not exactly sure what's going to resolve the bolt chafe. You might want to check your's out...

This has been brought up a couple of times and appears to be related to quicksilver exhausts. Check some more of the old threads.
