A little black mesh net over the "glove box"

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Now, wouldn't that be nice? Just to keep those extra items from falling out when you take off.

Any prototypes on the horizon?

For me it's deep enough that I never lost anything out of it... my problem is that stuff slides back / forth on turns. You can get a little Lotus aluminum separator to prevent that, but it's crazy expensive for what it is...

If you remove the airbag, there's tons of space behind the cover.. I once thought about turning it into a box.. Attaching a hinge to the bottom of the cover and using velcro on the top to hold it in place.. Plain and simple

Get some of that anti-slip, rubbery shelf liner, it really keeps stuff in place.

There is some kind of black pad made to prevent your sunglasses, phone, whatever from sliding off the top of your dash. I picked one up from office max and put it in the shelf. It works awesome. Of course right now I have a little container of mints and they are driving me nuts rattling in their box, lol, but nothing is sliding around any more.

You can get these in 6 inch long versions that fit perfectly in the dash at Radio Shack or Best Buy. They are designed to keep things from rolling off a dash - they work great in my car. And you can't really see them in place!

+1
I keep my garage opener and Ipod in there and they use to fly around all over the place. Picked one of these up at Circuit city and they work very well. You'll need to do a little trimming to get it to fit perfectly.

Sort of like this, but they come small enough for our dashboard/holder:

It seems to me it would be really easy to make a clip-
on hinged door that would turn that shelf into a
glove box...

Not that I need one anymore, but would anyone
be interested in that sort of thing?
