A&Q about Lotus
Q:
i'm getting the 1K service done on Friday at Southbay Lotus. Is there anything I should be asking for?
Does anyone think that the ECU injection is to detune the engine for CA's 91 octane ?!
Before I take it it ... should we mix in some 100 octane to get at least 93 octane, so that when they check the ECU, it won't show any performance problems, knock events, etc.
When one complained of knock with the Subaru STI in CA, they solved it by putting in a detuned map!
With the lotus engine's strong compression ... it's hard to believe it runs OK on 91 octane. If necessary we will continue to feed it whatever it's little heart desires ...

I had my 1k done about a month ago and there was a service bulletin from Lotus regarding the ECU - they had to reflash it. This meant that none of the data from the original miles was retrievable. Otherwise the mechanic indicated that they went through the chassis to tighten up things here and there where necessary but was otherwise an oil change.
