Steering wheels shakes at 85mph

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I wasn't sure were to stick theis thread so I put in general discussion.

Anyhow I now have my 3rd set of wheels on the car going from LSS's to SSR's back to LSS's in black but now as I hit 85mph my steering wheel starts to shake alot. Any speed under 85 it is fine and it's also fine under all braking conditions, I can't remember if it was like this I put these wheels on? Does any one else get the shakes at high speeds?
A:
Mine does but only on concrete highwa, I think that it is a tramline.
A:
maybe alignment, check tires

i had a similar problem... did an alignment and it went away... now even a 100mph feels like 60mph...
A:
I get a mild vibration around 90mph.

I suspect it's either bad balance, alignment, or flat-spotted tires in my case.
A:
I had this problem as well after picking up my car from the shop...turns out my rears were inflated to 45 PSI.
A:
100 MPH shake for me goes away at 120
A:
Mine was bad over 74mph. A road force balance got rid of most of it, but there is still some vibration.
A:
Have you had your new wheels balanced (and aligned)?

My steering wheel doesn't vibrate even up to 120+.
A:
Tire balance. Find the best shop/equipment/personnel you can.
A:
I have a very mild vibration in the 85-100 mph range. I've already had my car aligned, and that didn't change it at all. I strongly suspect it's just a balancing issue.
