Thinking about buying an Elise

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I am seriously looking into buying an Elise. I live in a small town in Utah, so the roads are not that great in some areas. I am used to driving vehicles with very little clearance, but I have heard the Elise is exceptionally low. When looking at the Elise in person, as well as online it does not appear to be any lower than the Plymouth Prowler I am used to driving. Can anybody give me any information regarding this issue? Also, is the Elise okay as a daily driver? I would appreciate any feedback!
A:
Daily driver??? Yes, of course. A lot of people here use it, including myself as primary transportation. Toyota engine/gearbox and very limited other electronic gizmos and gadgets to go wrong. I say, test drive one to see if it's right for you. Yes, sometimes when it's raining and I'm snaking into the car, I say, D&**, but then I start the car, drive, and forget all about that. I personally don't think it is as low my old '86 Esprit, though the seat is lower given the tub. Haven't had any issues scraping, which I did in my Boxster. Though I live in FL where we don't get a lot of pot holes in the roads.
A:
I drive mine everyday but the roads are pretty good in ATL. Don't go to test drive one unless you want to buy it
A:
If it was a summer only car... maybe. The sandy roads in the winter will sandblast the sides of the Elise, and SUVs will tower above you everywhere.
A:
About the same possibility of scraping the front as the Prowler. Gotta go easy in the steep ones.

Welcome! Good luck!

The photos are great - thank you. Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I think for how mild the winters are here, I should be fine with an Elise. I would definitely like to test drive one, but I have yet to find anything close by that I can try out.
