A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Good things come to those that wait and in my case that good thing is a Elise As of Saturday Sept 23ed Lotus has my deposit on a 2007 Elise with the following options:
Laser Blue on Red (Sorry JoeCool you wont be the only one now )
Traction Control
Hardtop
Star Shield
Touring Pack
Black "pack"
I saw my first Elise in 1998 while in England. I even took a picture of a Silver S1 car at the BTCC finals that has been on my computer desk at home since (also got a great pic of ole Nigel Mansel getting "bumped" during the last few laps of the race, great spin!). When I heard they were coming to the states I began plotting how I could get one. Luckily for me we did not have a dealership for 400 miles so test driving proved hard (this was good because my wallet wasnt quite ready for one as it was still looking at Ferrari 308s, bad wallet ). Then things changed, for the better. Late last year a large local dealership picked them up. I fought the temptation for a long time as I knew what a test drive would only bring one thing, LOTUS FEVER. Well I was right and after months of my wife telling me "Just go drive it" I did. I dont have to tell you about the euphoria that kicks in about the time the second cam comes on but I will say the experience left me in utter awe of the car. Heck my wife just rode with the salesperson as a passenger and she got out giggling and with a smile from end to end on her face.I could even hear the muffled sound of my wallet going "308 ..what 308...All I see is this sexy Lotus" and so the plans begin to be laid.
Well my plans have finally come together and I have moved from the wanting stage to the waiting stage. I could have bought a 06 off the lot but, with this being the first new car I have ever wanted to purchased brand new, I decided to make this car purchase a special one and get it "my way". I spent months reading Elise talk and learning..and reading...and learning... till it started to all make sense. The options I should get started to visualize in my head so after a few chats with Gary Hagen of LCU (what a guy!) and Dustin Smith (our local Lotus dealership guru) I was finalizing the list of the options I wanted to get. There was talk of a bigger deposit on the car due to the strange color combo but thanks to Dustin that did not happen. Then the time came to pull the trigger. The wife and I packed into the family auto and headed down to the dealership. There we discussed price, options, and such and I was ready to pull the trigger on my list above but without the hardtop but my wife stepped in and said "just get the hardtop you know you want it", how right she was. One hardtop added top option list I signed the papers and went to dinner.
Its just starting to hit me I am getting a Elise...unless someone wakes me up and this was all just a dream I have bought the most pure sports car you can buy in the US and the waiting is killing me Must....have ....patience....

Congratulations! Waiting can be the hardest part though. Any idea when your car is scheduled to be built?
A:
I waited 30 months, and it was worth it!
What is the "black pack"?
A:
the black touring wheels with black diffusor in the back
A:
Matt, no word yet but i will post as soon as i know.
Yeah sorry for the confusion on the "black pack". Its just listed as "Black Wheels" in the option list but the salesperson and I started calling it the "black pack" as it is more than just the wheels.
