Removing Starshield in DC Help!

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Hi all,

The front clamshell of my '05 Elise does not have Starshield, and I would like to remove the Starshield found on my mirrors and bottom rocker panels. I would like to do this because of yellowing and because scuff marks are easier to get off waxed fiberglass than the Starshield film. Can anyone recommend a place to remove the Starshield around DC or Northern VA? Should I take it back to the dealership?

I went to my local detailing shop (who also install 3M films) and they told me it would be $150-$200 and that I would still be responsible if they managed to take some paint off with the Starshield. In fact, I was told that I could probably do the job myself as well as they could. I rather not take the chance and would like the Starshield remove successfully. HELP!

Thanks in advance.

Why not have it replaced at the dealer? If it is in fact "factory" Starshield (with the Lotus logos embedded in the corners), it should be under warranty and should be replaced if it has gone bad...
A:
If you are dead set on paying someone. I had some work done at zebra stripes in Sterling, VA. They did a great job.

If you want to remove yourself just go slow and use a hair dryer to warm it up before you start pulling.

When I painted my mirrors I pulled it off myself. Didn't think twice about it. It peels off easily once you get it started.
