Getting in is very much a deliberate act - it's not something one does unconsciously. Each time is a wake-up a call... "What fun. Now, I'm gonna' drive. ****, it's great to be alive!" All this - before I even hit the start button.
Same thing getting out. Yes, it's a production; not something you do in your sleep. It's a punctuation mark: not a period, but an exclamation point... "I'm done driving now, and boy was that fun. ****, it's great to be alive!"
I know we're all different, but sometimes the all the "in/out" bitching reminds of the folks who rentlessly circle the parking lot in search of nearest spot to the entrance of the gym. This car makes you pick your sorry ass up to get in and drive it.
Great and funny post. I originally got my Elise so I can have it as a toy for the weekends. Turned out to be a daily driver also. Had the car for 58 days and the Elise has 5,200 miles on it. I wish it would snow soon so I have a reason not to drive it.

haha,.... well said!! This is very similar to every single time I get ready to ride my bike.... Riding a Motorcycle well and safely starts with first telling your brain to focus and clear all random thoughts out ... then get on the bike and ride... as soon as I hit the starter on my bike ... there is absolutely nothing else in the world I think about ... just me and my bike.... it's almost meditative.... especially when I hit the twisties...

Here are some comparisson shots for you. This is a Euro Elise, note the exhaust.

2002 s2K owner here and love my Honda but it is time for a change... I am very curious about long term reliability of the Lotus Elise; well not 100+years but as it climbs in mileage will everything hold up? I have yet to see a high mileage (40-50K miles) Elise and would love to ask how have things been with the car? My honda has 50K miles+ track time and never AN ISSUE... I know it is hard to compete with Honda reliability but just curious...

I have a question for former S2000 owners who switched over to the Elise -
In terms of driving, handling, speed and engine sound - how does the elise compare to the S2000?
I love my S2000 and I haven't test driven a elise yet, but I've had my heart set on one for a while now.... I am afraid to go for a test drive because I might just end up buying it - I am waiting for deep winter because I'm hoping that's when I may be able to negotiate a bit more....
Did anyone switching over from a S2000 ever regret their decision later? If so, why?
