Service manager at FVMC says I really babied this engine and broke it in gently. I did make it a point to shift at 4500rpms many times to make sure the rings seat properly. He said the high revs is Lotus testing the engine.

i've read a lot about break in and also a lot about the second cam kicking in. I have not taken my car over 4,500 rpm yet, under 400 miles. have i kicked in the second cam? by the way suferjer, i am going to call you to teach me how to drive this thing the right way as soon as one of these judges gives me a break in my trial schedule. i'll be in the media area on July 21 a the delaware county courthouse. polar blue with magnolia interior. joe

The service manager told me the Lotus Rep was not pleased with these #s. I explained I bought the car with 400 miles already on it as a Dealer Demo vehicle. They say they can tell when the high points were reached. Meanwhile all the service bulletins either were performed or parts were ordered to be done as soon as they arrive.

Exactly, the ECU printout says "Total engine running life: 93h 19m". The car has 3500 miles on it, so we can assume roughly 37.5 miles/hour for the life of the car. Multiply by hours and you get:
