Q:
went out tonite to p/u dinner and my daughter goes to roll down the electric window and the sucker moves about a quarter inch and freezes. now it goes up and down about a quarter inch but thats it anyone else have this problem, i dont know how long it will take symbolic to get me in, and i need my car this friday for my trip(figures) anybody have any ideas how to fix it?? thanks!!!

if you can get the window down at all i think there is a screw toward the back of the door inside(seperate the rubber strips and look down with flashlight)that backs out from vibration! it usually keep the window from going up all the way but it may do the same in reverse? might help might not!

Hey, you're lucky! My 1,500 mile service dealer broke our window (while adjusting to stop a leak) with only 1,400-1,500 on the car. Try the adjustment screws at the bottom of the door (one on each side), don't turn them too far (5+ full turns) either way but that should fix it. Might save you a trip to the dealer.

There is one on the front end of the door, too. You'll want to check both.

Stan posted this thread with pics. Not sure if this will correct your problem, but worth a look. Good luck.

Funny thing. I just read this thread this morning. On my way home from work in the Exige, my driver side window did the same thing! It's now all the way up, and when I try and put it down, it goes down about 1/2 inch, then hits something and will not go down.

Driving with the drivers window up sux!

Anyway, I guess I need to remove the door panel. I see from stans thread that it's not to hard. But once in there, any ideas as to why this is happening? Perhaps it will be easy to see once the panel is off, but is there a know fix for this problem? Before it happened, my window was down, and i could hear a new rattle in the door. Put the window up, and voila! now it's stuck there.

I have the elect windows btw.
thoughts? or should I just remove the door panel and see what's goin on in there?
Cheers,

I could use some help. Window won't roll down. I pulled the door panel, and with some careful investigation, determined that the front of the window is the part that is hitting something about 1/2 inch of the way down.

I've tried the window angle adjusters on the bottom of the door to no avail. I am sure the front is the part hitting something.

I'm looking inside the door and can't see anything. I even removed the door handle screws so I could look up in towards the front better.

Any ideas? I read about a 'front screw', where is it?

Does anyone even read this thread?
Anyway VICTORY is mine!!!

After reading tons of threads, I eventually loosened the 3 10mm nuts inside the door that hold the window. These 3 allowed the window to move backwards maybe 1/8th of an inch. But Voila! the window now closes ans works great. I tighetned them and reinstalled the panel. All done!

Here is the thread where I learned about loosening the 3 nuts to move the window front to back. It worked. Still don't know why, but now I don't care.

What a rewarding feeling. I love working on my cars, but this one is tough and simple at the same time. Now I know just a little more about my wonderful Exige. Soon I'll be wrenching the whole car.

Thanks Elisetalk!

I'll also add now that since the window is down, I checked the 2 black screws inside the window rubber, front and rear. The front screw was loose. I imagine this was my problem. sliding the entire window back 1/8" was the only way to clear it. I tightened it (very difficult angle). I'm sure these 2 black screws are the cause of most window problems.

I've had the rear screw loose and my window didn't go up all the way (easy fix because you just roll the window down and tighten the rear screw). Now with the front screw coming loose, and my window up, I think the only way to fix, is to open the door panel, loosen the 3 nuts holding the glass, and move it backwards enough to clear it. Then roll down the window and tighten that front screw.

*WHEW*
I sure hope this is helpful to someone else who is bound to have the same problem. At some point I will try and remove these screws, and put threadlock on them.

I'm going to attempt to repair my stuck window today based on all this stuff. I tried it a couple weeks ago and it didn't help. With more time today hopefully I will be successful.
A:
No luck.

I loosened all those screws and nothing happened. It still won't go down. The only question I would have is how to move the window back an 8th of an inch. Do I try and slide it back? I can't seem to get it to budge. Oh well, the car is going in next week for a bunch of other stuff. Just wanted to fix this myself because so many people have.
A:
You need to loosen the adjustment bolts. Push the window to the front or back to try to get it down. If you can push it back, the front screw is out and visa versa. If you still can't get it down, both might be loose. Then I guess you are going to have to take it to the dealer. Good luck. I had the same frustration.
A:
Thanks. Do you loosen all of the bolts? I counted five total. One in the front. (the hard one to reach) Three in the middle, easy to see and then one all the way back.

Then how hard do you need to push on that window?
A:
sorry i was out. Loosen just the two that are not at the bottom of the frame.

This is Stan's pic. The one screw is on the far left. The other one is at the bar that is angled up on the right side. I couldn't find a pic for that.
