that's right. gas flaps.

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I can't get this answer soon enough! it's the first modification I'd like to make, since I'm missing my rubber stopper, and i've got all the black...i need it.

where can you get this style gas flap?? (on the elise of course) it's the black i want. my flap is all smooth silver.
A:
That is a UK photo - not sure if that style is even available in the US aftermarket
A:
That's not a door, it's the gas cap for the Euro model. Without looking at a parts book, I'd guess you'd have to replace the filler neck (and perhaps modify some stuff for the evap system) as well.
A:
Pretty sure cody's right, someone investigated a couple years back and found out it's a major undertaking. To boot it'd also probably trigger a check engine light fault.
A:
As other's pointed out, that's a Euro version and a gas cap.

The Federal regulations require that gas caps have to be recessed in the body of the car and not firmly attached to the body (harder to rip open in a wreck). That's why we get the door with the cap down in the hole.

It would be expensive for the parts to change it out, and as pointed out by Chris, it would probably affect your emissions system, triggering a MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp - aka Check Engine Light).

Some people however have simply black powder coated their gas cap door ...

Yep I plan this mod since it's black wheel diffuser package. They should powder coat it black as part of the package.

Guess I'll have to breakdown and buy an extra one/
A:
great info, thanks guys.
A:
if you want to just buy a powder coated one, check the HRM site. matte or gloss finish

Do they do it on an exchange basis?? ie they send me one then I send mine back? That's a great idea. I'll look into it.
A:
ummmm i don't remember as i never got around to doing it. yet. but the matte would be great on my storm titanium with the black SSRs
A:
I emailed Mark about it $175 isn't a bad price either.
