A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I accidentally filled the oil a half inch over the top dipstick mark. Should I be okay?
A:
I don't know on the toyota motor but when I did that on my 911 it made the engine smoke a ton. I drove it on 1 trip for 70 miles and the car refused to start after that.
had to have it towed to the shop to have the excess oil removed. they did something else to make the car start again but I can't remember now.

From the service manual, available on the lotus site for $25:

You might want to consider draining a bit and chalk this one up to experience.

I measured it.. It looks like I put in about 350ml too much. Should I even bother to drain it?
A:
I think I'd get it out of there. It can be pumped out throught the dipstick tube.

I've heard of guys that run 0.5L over when on the track... doubt 0.35L is a problem...
A:
I run almost a half liter overfilled when autoxing, which BTW has cured my engine cutoff issues---or maybe it was the new battery. But in any case, I wouldn't sweat 1/3 of a liter.

and to think I was gonna have you change my oil.

I've heard of the same thing, from the Celica GTS crowd who do that to avoid oil starvation.
I suggest going for a short, but normal, drive, then checking the oil to look for signs of bubbles/frothing.
