New Key Fob

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Hello community,

I was wondering, since the key fob of the elise looks so awfully ugly, is there a way to use a different key fob and program it so that it functions exactly the same?
Where can I get that?

Best regards.
A:

It comes highly recomended

The Blackwatch key fob is just the case, you use your own alarm's iinternals. I have one that I used for two weeks for sale because I don't like its bulk. PM me if interested.
A:
Thanks for the answers, but I'm looking for a key fob that doesn't integrate the key!
A:
You could use the BWR fob without integrating it with the key.

I love my Blackwatch key. It looks and functions great! I don't get why someone thought it was bulky, considering the original key with phalic fob and nearly every aftermarket key/fob combo is more bulky than the BW . Weird.

Please pardon my ignorance, but can you send me to a link where I can see a photo of the key fob please?

All I find on their homepage is this photo:

That is the fob - the two carbon sections in the photo on the left are the two alarm fob buttons.

Are you really that concerned about what your alarm fob looks like?

Anyway, here's another endorsement for the BWR fob/key. Cleans up your keychain having only one item for both the alarm and the ignition (like most modern cars), looks very unique, and is amazingly well constructed.

But to answer your original question - no, there's no other fob that I know of that can be programmed for the Cobra alarm that we have in our cars.
A:
Quick and dirty photoshop. Fob from BWR minus the key. On the left, I showed what it might look like if you dremeled off the little nubs that hold the key.

Yes

Ok, well I was hoping to exchange it with something better looking. The Key Fob from BWG doesn't do it for me either. Guess I'll have to stick with the one from Lotus.
Thanks for all your replies though. Appreciate it!

Best regards

I gather that you are looking for something a bit more becoming of the Lotus Marque . I actually prefer the understated look of the BWR and stock setup. That way in case I ever loose my key somebody couldn't walk to the only Lotus in the parking lot and have at it.
A:
Are you looking for something like a nice leather one that says "Lotus" on it or has the Lotus badge? Something purely decorative?
A:
I'm curious - what do you consider to be an acceptable looking fob?

In related news, the new GM fob they just announced today is pretty cool.

...especially since the range of the alarm fob is about a car length, at best (I'm assuming the BWR package does nothing to increase the range)! They could walk up and down every aisle of a parking lot pressing the button, and quite possibly never disarm the car, even if they were walking right behind it...
A:
So how do you program the BWR key/fob?

I want one.

Matt Merritt You don't program it. You remove the circuit from the fob and instert it into the BWR key casing. It comes with a key blank so you don't have to cut the key out of OEM key.

I converted to Robert's Blackwatch key fob and key conversion. I prefer to carry only one item when I go out and a single key and fob integrated package was a good solution.

Like others, I wish it were a bit smaller but I understand the need for strength.

I have a set of conversion instructions on my website, and this might help you envision the fob without the key.

Anyone willing to post the dimensions of the Blackwatch fob?
