Sweet! I hope the elise/exige community doesn't overload Jackson Racing with requests, but I am very interested. I've always thought they were a top notch tuner, but disappeared for a while.
Please post any responses from them regarding this setup. Especially for the 06 cars.
Word.

I hope we do. Perhaps they will see it as a good business opportunity.

True, maybe they'll see the light in that there are a lot of elise/exige owners who would really like to see more tuners involved.
Seems this kit would be without an intercooler? If offered for elise owners, where would they put it?
I'm starting to realize that the aftermarket will start coming up with a lot of solutions to the need for more Lotus power. Coolness... I agree with a previous post, can some of the SoCal people go snoop around and see whassup?
Cheers,

I asked that same question about the FF kit. Where do they install the intercooler in the Elise applications. Will the aftermarket embrace the roof scoop in the Exige applications? So many questions. There is obviously a market for someone other than the current tuners to tap into. There relatively a large numbers of Lotus running around in the gear head community.

That is a good point. It would be pretty cool at any rate. I did include a link to this thread in my email to Jackson Racing. Hopefully they will take a look. I also told them to take 5 minutes and do a search for "turbo" or "supercharger" and they would could read for a week straight. Maybe they will do so and see the desire for another option.

I talked to the Jackson Racing today, the person was very nice and seemed knowledgeable.
While the Rotrex is new to Jackson, he had done some 70 installs himself with the Rotrex. The Lotus install parts are being made in England now for the Elise, using a British car. They will be sent here to see if they fit the US version. I believe he was talking about brackets, but maybe some plumbing also. So there is nothing up and running yet. He expected maybe early next year. You can take it for what it's worth, but based on his past experience with the Rotrex:
very linear boost
boost as low as 1500 rpm
extremely low temperature differential between boosted and ambient air.
He said they had run an engine (M3 bimmer) at boost continuously for 45 minutes on the dyno and the temp increase was very low (damned low, I won't repeat the number, we'll see).
Likey not to need an intercooler. Exchangers adds friction so if not needed, so why do it. Possibly a small intercooler at best, a large one adds boost lag. You have more volume to fill with a bigger exchanger.
The big one: as far as engine management, they feel they want to try to hack the ecu and feel they have a guy who can do it. He has done others. All I could say was that I hope he succeeds. I couldn't hack a sprinkler timer.! I think if anything holds up progress, this may be it. Yet, are the 2 Lotus ecus (05 and 06) that hard to figure out? I'm not sure any professional has really tried. Maybe he can do it.
I told them to give me a call when they're ready for an '06. Corona isn't too far from Phoenix.
If I hear anything, I'll post it. Likely no Rotrex for anyone for few months at least
.
Forgot to mention: He figured about 8 hp to drive the blower, based on other cars.

The cool part of this unit is it's size and the ability to put in different places on a car, so it should be a good fit for the elise's limited spaces, plus less heat buildup is always a good thing. I saw a post for the exige s at 64k that is getting up there, if our elise are only going to fetch 35k there is a big market for these units, hope they know how to deal with the mad scientist brain on this car.

Just heard back from Oscar Jackson Jr:
David,
The Lotus Elise/Exige kit is still in design stages, with no completion date set. We have no other information available. The PSI has not been determined for the kit. When other information is available, it will be posted directly to JacksonRacing.com.
Thanks for your time,
Oscar Jackson Jr.

I got a reply also. Same type. No info. It looks like it's going to be a while. Might turn out to be another Ragnorak deal.
