A&Q about Lotus
Q:
you have an email back now with all of the pictures resized for you.
A:
I'm surprised you have the hvac controls in place. Have you not bypassed and removed the heater core?
A:
The gallery allows 2meg images and automatically resizes the photos for use in the forum and provides the image code... and other cool stuff.

ZJ Chaser, You are the man!! Thanks!
The brakes are way oversized on the car so I wanted to reduce weight while retaining swept area. Sprint car trick. Rotors don't last as long but on this car they usually don't show much wear anyway. As you guys know the thing is a test bed "EXPRMTL".
HVAC controls ar going away just have to get to it. It will have a cable pull to activate an ultralight defroster setup. Aluminum collector box coming right off the top of the radiator (with an in-hose fan) at the engine to radiator inlet area.
The ForcedFed header is a work of art

What are you defrosting? I thought you removed the windshield?

We will weigh her as soon as she is in running trim, but I am guessing 1700-1750lbs with the roll cage and s/c installed.
The picture is of the area ahead of the front bulkhead where the HVAC system usually resides.
I am planning to experiment with the Yamaha R7 front brake system.
Dual rotors would be nice with a staggered caliper setup. You would have two small calipers on two thin rotors(non vented)on each front wheel.
The rears would use the same setup, the only difference being a single rotor and single caliper per side. A total of three R6 front brake systems would be needed.
I wonder how much money we are looking at. Anyone have any idea$$$?

So, did I miss the background on this car? Is this the same car in your avitar just stripped and awaiting re-assembly? Very interesting. I appreciate your taking the time to share the pics!
A:
Yes it is the same car in the avatar.
Stripped down and undergoing lots of fun changes.
My excitement is starting to build in anticipation of the first drive..
A:
Is there anything to bolt a battery bracket to in that location or are new holes required? I was thinking passenger footwell but under the front clam is a cleaner install and even further foreward.
A:
Had to drill a hole..

Windshield is out but a hardened Polycarbonate(Percys Motorsports Speedglass) one will be replacing it this week. Sector 111 will have them in stock soon. How does a 25-30lb. weight savings sound at the windshield level? Nice weight savings way up high..

I love you man - need pictures!
Any idea how much? $$$
A:
I will be sending pictures of the install to Sector 111 later this week which they plan to put on their web site in case owners want to try to install their windshield themselves.
Each windshield comes with "easy to follow installation instructions".
Neil @ Sector111 is the mastermind at their level. I believe they should have a fresh batch of them available later this week(951)296-6762
Not sure of the pricing.

What's on top of the roll bar, tranny cooler, or related to the s/c system.?
A:
It's an oil cooler. WAY closer to the engine for increased flow efficiency, lighter by far, eliminates approx 20' of hoses, two coolers to one, etc., and frees up the front clam openings for brake cooling...
About 1/3th the weight of the stock setup. Can also be mounted in the trunk if you run a NACA duct or two on top of the rear clam and cut an exhaust hole between the tailights. I may still move it back there.

Went up and looked at the windshield this AM. According to Percy' stock windshield is 26lbs and Polycarbonate is 11lbs before trimming. Maybe 10.5lbs installed. Says "LEXAN" in two places on the labeling(Apparently Lexan is GE's brand name for Polycarbonate)
I did in fact cut off the top 1/2 of my windshield header at the top of the front door mirror mount rubber trim. It is a very light structure, probably only saved 2lbs or so.(not a mod for the timid). Used a new hack saw blade and SLOWLY cut at a slight inward slant toward the center of the car.
The visibility increase is substantial. No more bulky windshield header in your face. I was always looking under or around the danm thing anyway....
My car is truly a speedster now. I am tempted to cut the windshield at the same level and wear a helmet when I drive the car on the street. The only thing that holds me back is "THE WIFE" !
