A&Q about Lotus

Q:
How heavy are those rear wave rotors? Are they custom from Brakeman? Looks like you are using the stock rear calipers.
A:
That's the standard battery position for the Opel Speedster, by the way. I'm surprised Lotus moved it to the trunk for the S2.
A:
As I recall the scalloping reduced the weight of each front by either 3.1 or 3.3 lbs and each rear by 2.7lbs... It is the Stasis/Alcon basic kit then CNC cut.
A:
This photo shows the final look of the dash after all non-structural pieces have been removed save the dash support which currently has the starter button and headlamp buttons mounted into it. It will eventually be covered in black alcantara over a 1/2 round sculpted foam pad running the length of the dash.
Removing the airbag and radio leaves a couple of nice places for glove boxes or storage bins(non lockable of course).
A:
Here is a better shot of the scalloped front and rear brakes and the Ti wheel bolts.
A:
The top photo shows my version of a door opener pull. Just a bit lighter than stock!! I like the way that my door panels turned out, flat, ultralight, and soft to the touch. Sweet

In the second photo you can see the front "fender lowers" attaching points and the lack of an interior light switch. You can also see my best friend in the caulking gun, black Sikaflex1A. I think you can build a car with it. OH yeah, Lotus already did...Very strong yet flexible.
A:
Good god man, I love it.

So about how long are you looking until it's ready for the road again?
A:
What size RA1s are you running?
A:
Fronts are 205/40 ZR-17 and I think the rears are 225/40 ZR-17(can't remember and I can't quite read it in the photo).
A:
Do you need to run spacers on the front? Are they the same wheels all around (offsets)?
A:
I want to enlarge your avatar for a closer inspection...

I know the fronts have 5mm spacers to clear the calipers. Rears run without any spacers.. I'll have to look at the offsets, can't remember...
A:
do you want to rent out the fiberglass piece where the softtop rear rod stays use to be so i can use it as a template?
A:
If you lived in the SF Bay Area and I could personally hand it to you it would be fine. I would be interested in selling it. You could probably sell it to someone after you get done using it as a template. Why can't you remove your own top cover and use it as a template?? It's easy to remove...
A:
how do you like the intake?
A:
I absolutley love it but I have yet to hear it..
I have heard that they really howl though...
A:
gahhh you have me drooling now too

i might have to hold off of the sway bars for a lil bit for one of these bad boys

how much did it cost you altogether? and i assume you got it from sector111 right?
A:
I paid all the $$ . It seems like it was around $1,200 complete.
A:
I'm jealous! Those brakes rock!
A:
I saw them on motorcycles and bicycles and became interested. My development guy told me that they scallop them for the sprint car guys and that it would not be a problem to give it a try on my car.
They are quite a bit Lighter and supposedly run cooler due to the undulation of the rotor edge as well as an increase in running edge length for radiating heat. They do wear out faster but I think with such oversized brakes on an Elise I won't notice much of a change. I am very curious to see how they work out though..
