Need to vent!

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
So I met up with a couple of my friends at the Green Turtle in Towson to watch the Maryland/Miami game. I usually don't go out to the bars anymore but I thought I'd go and support my alma mater with some alums......

Lucky me I find a spot right in front of the bar but it's a parallel parking spot. The first thing that pops up in my mind is "lucky me, what a great spot", the second thing is "this is not a smart idea, remember the horror stories on ET about parallel parking?". The latter thought was with me in the back of my mind the whole time I was at the bar.

Dummy me I say fvck it and just park there and go in. I have to say that the only other option for parking in Towson is behind the bar, and they are like compact only spaces and not well lit at all. I felt that parking my Elise in a busy street in front of tha bar was a better option than in the back. Bad idea.

I come out to see that someone has backed into my precious Elise and left a nice scuff mark on the SS in the front. Man I was livid. The thing is, eventhough I can't prove it I believe the person who did this was still parked there in front of me. On close inspection of the other guys bumper it looked like he "parks by feel" all the time, and because of the SS I didn't trade paint with him.

I called the cops right then and there and by fate the guy comes out to his car at that time. The officer asks him if he backed into my Elise and ofcourse he says no. Like I said, his bumper is scuffed up already and no paint was traded because of the SS. I am SOL.

I come home and apply some Zaino to the affected area, looks like it buffed out pretty well. Only 2 tiny rips in the SS and some barely noticible rubbing marks. I am going to look closer tomorrow in the sunlight and make sure there is no paint damage/spidering.

It's a matter of principle. I can get the SS replaced by claming a hit and run and I probably wouldn't pay anything. But the fact of the matter is this guy is so guilty......even the cops sat there and agreed with me (by the looks of his car, you could tell he didn't give a sh!t about it) I can't prove he actually did it. Makes me want to drive to his house and slash his tires......

Done venting. BTW, DON'T PARALLEL PARK YOUR ELISE! Too many a$$holes who don't give a sh!t about their own cars and even worse others cars. And too many people park by feel because they are RETARDED.

Done venting again.

Replacing the starshield will only be a few hunderd bucks. Clam damage would have been in the thousands+ re-sale loss. I think you came out pretty lucky compared to others here.

Transio - We need meanTT emoticon.

Save the insurance claims for the big stuff.

Wax on, wax off, lesson learned, go for a drive and let the steam out.

It's a matter of principle!

Maybe I'll go firebomb his house, that'll make me feel better.

So sorry John. Would your deductable apply? Might not be worth the insurance report. Totally sucks, but parallel parking in towson? Might as well have been on Thames St. Call Andy over at Sticker City and get a quote on his pre-cut film. I'd also ask about a reliable installer in Baltimore.

Oh, and no firebombing. We'd like to keep you and the city around. At least until I come home for my 20th highschool reunion. On second thought...
A:
The only parallell parking I do is if I have ONLY the first spot in a row (not last, that involves people backing up), and the spots are generous. Even then I'm nervous...

I got hit with a rock the other day - recall that photo? I think it was you that gave me the friendly joke advice to garage the Elise and never take it out again...

No matter what you do, you'll end up with something - that's life. I'm religious with parking and following distances, and I still took a rock to the face that now sticks out like a big zit. Just accept it, and call it a battle scar... and keep driving. A scuffed Elise is a happy Elise .
A:
As for the a$$holes in Escalades and Rams who don't know how to drive... They will burn in hell. I read it in the Bible the other day

Luke and I do make a mean team...Now, just give me the idiot's License plate and we'll get medieval on his ass. GRRRRRRRRRRRR.....
A:
Alan, you could probably get zOOmz to photoshop some shark teeth in that evil black smile!

Damn, it's been a while since I looked at that pic... that car looks freakin good!

This thread makes me very irritated! Why do people have no respect for others' belongings? I think if I saw this happening (parking by feel), I'd have to pull the person out of their car and beat the living dog poop out of them!!!
My brother has a philosophy about his BMW that damange is just part of owning the car and he'll replace each damaged part in time when need be. That's easier said than done on an Elise where replacing any damaged body panel is basically half the car.
Sorry to hear about the damage

Should it ever happen, this is some of the crap that would be nice to have on video.

See

I picked up a Chase Cam system and have been playing with it this week... just in time to put my car away

It can be left in loop mode and continuously record. If something happens, the video may offer proof.

And yes, I AM paranoid

Call Detailer's Paradise @ 800-405-9970. Very good product's and professional help. I had a # of scratches in my 3M on one of my other car 's after hitting a # of rolling tumbel weed's . Used their PRIMA Whirl and a lot of elbow grease and it look's very good. They are very helpful in product selection. I was very satisfied with there recommdation etc and believe me as I am almost pathalogical when it comes to scrapes etc. Picked up my plane yesterday only to find out wing dimpled in three places, main gear that was supposedly fixed lost most of it's nitrogen on landing, weather is moving in and I'm pacing for service to reopen tomorrow. Good luck!

John I know how you feel man. Not too long ago someone did over $2000 in damage to my Camry, see the "Parking lot asses" thread here:

It is easy to fantisise how you would react if you would have happend to walk out and witness the dirtbag do this to your car but the fact of the matter is that you did not. I have noticed that the more I think about what happened to my car the more it upsets me. Guess what I do? I don't think about it. Just chalk it up to one of life's annoyances and move on.

A Chase cam left in loop mode is an interesting idea though.

Have you looked/asked around to see if there are any cameras covering that area? Right in front of the bar could be covered by something.

I will do that actually. Damage is minimal but it pisses me off. There are 2 traffic lights I can think of and who knows? The establishments there might have one too. TY for the idea, I didn't even think about it.

John,

Three things:
1) I think I saw you on Saturday coming up York and turning left onto Pennsylvania, and coincidentally I was wondering where you were going to park it! Ouch - could have been worse though.
2) Saturday was my first time in Towson, so where is the Green Turtle? Is that the same owners as the one in Fells Pt? I was actually looking for the mall, and I'm embarrassed to say I gave up before I found it. I think I was one block too far West.
3) The Hurricanes would have crushed the Terps if only our 1st string players had been paroled in time for the game.

Don't get me wrong, I love the "U". They gave us Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.

There are 3 Green Turtles actually. The original one is in Fells Point, 2nd one is in Ocean City, and the newest one is on York Rd. right where you saw me on Saturday. They are franchises no I don't believe they are owned by the same people.

BTW, Towson Mall is on the corner of the circle. York and Joppa rd.

I was asking for it parallel parking in front of a bar. I'm suprised no one threw up on it or something....

There's another one opened recently in Columbia.

John Careful with words like that. You might end up at Gitmo.
