A&Q about Lotus
Q:
That should be up to date. If I missed anyone, repost.
A:
We should have a FAQ... Or rather, things you frequently point people to...

I intentionally avoided calling it an FAQ mostly because I think the only person who should be allowed to call anything an FAQ on this site is Randy. Also, FAQ's can become dated and develop gaps and I'm trying to avoid that, but if it dies at least we don't have an invalid or inaccurate "FAQ" lying around.
Randy is welcome to change the subject of the post to Elise/Exige FAQ or similar. In any event, I'd like to maintain ownership of the thread until it has been developed enough to stand on it's own.
edit: A true FAQ would also be more comprehensive than this currently is.

D@mn, Shawn, this has just cost me over $300! I hope items aren't added too fast for my budget to keep up!
Seriously, I think this is a great thread and I hope (as ///Mink suggested) that Randy will make this a sticky. It deserves to stay up front. Thanks for the effort to do this.

Absolutly a sticky.
Keeper, nice work. BTW where in NH/MA? I am a New Englander myself. Just got back from Boston last night from the holidays...

O yea, I almost forgot, what is FWIW?

I live just north and west of Boston. I had only been living here about a year when I joined the forum. We spent most of our time then hiking the 48 in NH, etc. and lived in the Back Bay previously, so putting the new 20 didn't seem accurate at the time.
Didn't get to live in Boston long, but miss it a lot.

Keeper,
Well done! Lots of work went into this project -- I appreciate your efforts.
My only comment would be that (based upon my experience) the speedo (not the odo) on all 2005's are 7-8% FAST, not slow. Interestingly enough, this is not true for the DBW 2006 cars -- those are quite accurate.

Doh. Dyslexic moment. That's the accuracy bit I'm looking for. Fixed. Also, added DBW to acronym list.

Nice post - quite helpful. For some reason I've completely missed the TurboXS intake thread and this turned me on to it .
Two possible additions:
- My alarm was acting up and it turned out the interior light bulb had burned out. That might be a good second thing to check after the light being in the down position.
- If you have a QuickSilver exhaust you should check to be sure that the heat shield isn't touching and eating a hole through the diffuser once you put it on. I found out the hard way and numerous posts here indicate it happens to nearly everyone with a QS.

Added the bulb input.
Mod support might overwhelm the post. Perhaps a similar mod support thread would be a better place? What do you think?

Thanks Shawn, all fixes / improvements all in one file...this is the best!

Wonderful idea! Kudo's, Shawn, for all the effort that went into this.
No sure it's still an issue for the '06's, but the heel and toe pedal set-up on the earlier cars was horrible. Here's one thread that addressed adjustment:
Another problem with the pre-'06's was missing speed sensor connection to head unit. I found CALtd's solution to be a godsend:
Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge Waynedui for his customized build plaques (free):
It's stuff like this that makes this little community so special.

I remember someone working on a label to afix on top of current speedometer which will have adjusted numbers. Seems like the perfect low tech solution, but I'm not sure if that thread went anywhere. At first I thought it might be strange to have slightly different spacing along the speedometer (if it's non-linear), but then again I didn't notice how the spacing is different on the tach (between 0-3k) until someone pointed it out.
Though if someone had gone through the trouble of doing that, it may be nice if they could have a matching label for the tach and have other color options... As a friend of mine put it, "black-on-white gauges make [him] homocidal".
Granted, I'm not sure how involved it would be to open up the instrument panel; may be more trouble than it's worth.

AFAIK, never happened. Would be a popular thread.
