That's probably right.
A:
David,
Glad you and your daughter are okay.
A:
I'm glad you came out of it OK. I'm also impressed by how little visible damage there is.
A:
Ouch. Glad you and your daughter are ok!. Hopefully you'll be back on the road soon!
A:
Boy, it just missed the door.
Any speed estimate on the accident report?

No speed estimates. I'm guessing I was going under the posted speed limit of 40 mph. The Tahoe must have bolted from where she had stopped at her stop sign--she only had a few lanes to drive through to pick up speed. She didn't have much time to break (because the idiot could not see approaching traffic). Her speed: your guess is as good as mine.

David,
Again, I am glad you and your daughter are OK, that is ALL that matters; there are many places throughout the country that stock Lotus Elises (new and used), some of them will even sell them to you. Just a question on the tires. I also have the Falkens and love them; what a great tire for the price point. Which sizes did you get and what are your impressions of the tires? I am just trying to collect data from other RT-615 drivers.
Thanks,
Stephen

Yeah, I may be making enquiries to dealers before long.
I have 205s in front and 235s in back. Everyone else I know of has gone with 215s in front, and I think that is a better fit. I like the way the car feels, but the 205s add a little understeer, while the 215s seem to give more neutral balance. All-in-all, I've been very happy with them but will opt for the 215/235 combination next time. (245s apparently cause rubbing in the rear, fyi.)

Hi David, really sorry to hear this, but the important thing is that noone was hurt,
Hope it all works out in your favor in time.

that sucks. When you mentioned that she was in pj's it reminded me that a lot of times these kinds of accidents involve people who are on medication and think they can still drive...

I had a t-bone (sort of) in June. It is quite a scary thing in such a small car, but mine was like new after 5 weeks in the shop. I'm glad to here that you are both alright, but be carefull, it took weeks of physio to get the kinks out that I didn't feel until days after, and now I have more coming because muscle damage has radiated into other parts of my back. The one thing they told me was that if the steering was off, the chasis was most likely damaged, hence a write off. I was lucky, mine wasn't, but yours looks worse. Best of luck.
For what it's worth, I'd keep the Elise given the option. Unless you track the car a lot, nothing beats cruising in the Elise with the top off on a nice day.
Take care of you and your daughter, worry about the car later.
A:
Glad you all ok, the car did it's job and protected its occupants.
Hard to see these cars afterwards. Hope you get another one soon if this one is not save-able.

That sucks. Glad you both are OK. It doesn't look too bad, even though it might be totaled. It is good to know the Elise is such a strong product. So, what was the damage on the Chevy (if any)?

The Chevy will need its passenger side lights array replaced, as well as the bumper. The bumper was bent back pretty severly--bent, in fact, so that the lower passenger-side bumper was jammed into the tire. I saw no other signs of damage.
Looking at the Elise this morning, it appears the impact was centered at the strongest point of the frame, where the side of the frame joins the rear of the frame. That may account for the degree of damage on the Tahoe

She probably thought she hit a lambo or a ferrari, then messed herself

Sorry bout your car. Glad you're ok. If it's not totaled, definitely go for the Exige clam!!
