The Elise diet...exercise???

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Since we're on a kick of ridiculous threads today...
Anyone actually try cutting body weight instead of, oh say, replacing their windshield for a polycarbonate one to gain a savings of 10lbs? I'm 220lbs and I'm trying to gain another 10lbs so I can try out for the Bengals next year

Just curious because I can tell a big difference in my Elise's performance even when I have a average/small sized date in the passenger seat. Am I doomed to be whipped at every autoX and track event by little jocky sized drivers?
A:
I took my car to the scales for the first time last weekend. well its a truck scale near a recycling plant. its accurate to 20 lbs, so not that great.

car was 1940 with 2/3rd tank of gas... i was expecting 1960. with me in it, 2080 (i weigh 155ish.. 6' and skinny!). not too bad! i had the soft top in the trunk. it even flashed 1920 for a second..

and i agree - i can tell the car might feel a little less peppy with a big passenger in it. maybe it's just a mental thing though.

I weigh 245 and am 6'3" and do not have any problems autocrossing the Elise. I won the past two year's championships in my region, Lex region and a National tour. I am just down the interstate in Louisville. It would be nice to be lighter but just imagine what the others think when you are in a power to weight car AND winning.
A:
Yeah, well like I said, I'm not trying to lose body weight...just wondering if others had tried it. I want to stay big enough to thoroughly whip someone's ass if he drops my car off a garage lift like the SY one that was posted a few days ago.

I only weigh 165, but you get bet I'd still whip someone's ass if they dropped my car off a lift.
A:
Lets just say I could stand to lose enough to gain 10 more horsepower
A:
well I was considering an orchiectomy, thinking I would save at least 5 lbs, but cant quite pull the trigger on that one...
A:
yeah if you make yourself throw up or take a laxitive before you go driving you'll gain like 0.2 HP
A:
If I could just get rid of my "third leg...
A:
The weight of even an average sized passenger has always been very noticable to me in terms of acceleration. Just figure that a 200-lb passenger drops your power to weight ratio from 192bhp/ton to 175bhp/ton--nearly a 10% drop.

I have actually lost 10lbs over the last 3 weeks and should be able to loose about 50 more before the car comes out of winter storage....Can't wait to see how she does with a 60lb reduction!

Anyway if you do want to loose some here is what I did:

(it's my wife's business.....I'm just going to be the posterchild!!)

Actually I'm trying to gain weight. If you want to gain here's what I did:

Bowflex and PowerBlocks to build core stabilizer muscles. Then switch back to freeweights and let the gains begin...But don't forget to throw in 8-10 reps/3 sets of "unscrewing *******'s heads that 'park by feel'"
A:
WHOOPS....apparently you can't call "people" who park by feel by their true scientific name.
Since when has ET blacked out words???
A:
We also have a program to gain weight, and stuff for building muscle. Kinda like a one stop shop for all your health needs. Good luck with the football team, that would be way cool if you made it.
