A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I have a 2005 Elise that has never been registered and I would like to sell it. I travel way too much for work and I am slimming down my toy box.
The car is perfect and has 500 miles on it. The details are as follows: bordeaux pearl with black interior, sports and touring package, factory fog lights, and hardtop.
The advice I am looking for is how much realistically should I ask for it and where is the best place to list?
Thanks,
Jason

As one who just recently (2 months ago) bought a used '05, I spent most of my time looking here, cars.com and autotrader. I also looked on ebay. In the end I bought a car that I saw here on this site. The fact that it was owned and maintained by an enthusiast meant a lot to me. Mine had 4000 miles on it and had the touring package, hard top, integrated radar detector ($1500) and upgraded speakers and battery. I paid $37K and thought it was a good price. I narrowed my choice down to 3 cars in the end and all were haggled down to about the same price. Even though the other two had a few less miles and the sports package, the one I bought was the color I wanted (ardent red over tan leather). I'm guessing with winter coming on the demand has dropped some. Also the dealers are trying to get rid of their remaining '06s and have some good deals. I think realistically you should get between $35K - $37K.

Thanks for the tip, I suppose posting it here will be a good start along with the others that you mentioned.

If it's never been registered, who owns it?
A:
I do. I have the certificate of origin and the paperwork you take to register it.

Jason, i sold my car here as well, low miles and great shape.
my advice is advertise it here, and take the first offer that is close to what you want for the car. they are not easy to sell, and buyers of these cars are impulsive. mine sold 3x before it was actually officially sold.
with the winter coming the market will be lessend for these, and its already a buyers market for sure.
I offered a guy $500 less than his lowest price when looking to buy my elise. 9 months later he still has the car, and I bet he would give up $500 now to have sold the car 9 months ago.
how does the car have 500 miles on it if its never been registered? is it a tracktoy only? if so, shouldnt it have been properly broken in(1K miles and have first service done on it) before tracking?
mine was a track toy only, and when i decided i didnt want the car any more, that was it. sell it for the first reasonable offer.
I have no regrets.
good luck, BTW the advertising cost here is a great deal!!! thanks randy !!!!

It has not been on the track, I just have not driven it much. Sounds like this place is a good start. Thanks!
