A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Does anybody happen to have a picture of what the embellisher rings look like? I am wondering how to tell if the fix has been done on a car or not. Thanks.
A:
Are you talking about the headlight embellisher rings?
There is a plastic version that Lotus sells and then the polished aluminum ones I have. The picture show the aluminum ring around the projector lense.
A:
Where did you get the polished ones?
A:
I made up a set of polished aluminum one for my car as I didn't like the look of the plastic ones Lotus supplied. There ended up being enough people that wanted them that I made a bunch of them.
A:
Oh, I see. They cast a shadow which prevents the sun from hitting the headlight housing. I thought they were like a rubber seal that fits around the headlight cover that maybe lifted it up a 1/2 centimeter or so and ruined the "magnifying glass burning ants" effect.

Any chance of a pair lying around?
A:
Group buy?
A:
I do have a few left, PM me if you are interested in a pair
A:
I got a set of rings from uglyduck. They worked out very nice. Much better looking than the plastic ones and the non-polished ones I have seen.
A:
Ugly's rings rule! Really nice finished look to the headlights AND they are functional!
A:
lets see some pictures, Chris
A:
Thanks Chris..
I have a new camera mount for you.....smaller and stronger for your camcorder.
A:
I'm interested. I sent you a PM...

I have the rings from uglyduck and I'm very pleased with them.
They look great and have stopped the burning, as well as hiding the previous marks.

Nice, do you think it will cover up all the sunburn marks that I have here in my post (a lot of pictures there)?
Thanks.

Yes, I think the rings will definitely cover up your "scars". The rings extend approx. 1" into the lens assembly.
Looking at your pictures, I'm guessing your marks are 1/2" in front of lens opening.
If nothing else, the rings will prevent further marking on the housing.

Does the extension of the rings change the pattern/width of the light beam much? After all it's not a light beam but a 'cone'.
