Lotus rear-end REDO?pics

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
so what do you all think of this LED tail light with integrated blinkers and brake lights?? just click the thumb nail.

A:
What? Where? Huh?
A:
Hmm... IMO the scalloped section is there to present the lights. If no lights, I would remove the cavity entirely and introduce a curve the direct opposite of the scalloped section.
A:
DMA: do you mean make the rear kinda bubble out instead of in?
A:
Exactly
A:
Looks like a kit car in the pic. Hate it, sorry.
A:
I'd be worried that even with the lights lit up, people might have to "search" for your brake lights and rear end you. They are not where people might be used to seeing them. Bad enough already as they drive so damn close looking to see what car it is.
A:
Yeah, that's baaaaaaaaaaaaad!
A:
I love the design of the tail lights, dunno why you would want to change them.
A:
obviously just a photochop but wanted to guage interest. Led lights are way brighte in a strip like this. they would be very obnoxious.
A:
Ugly!
A:
The Elise has kind of a wide rear end in comparison to the dimensions of the rest of the car. It looks fine when there are things to take your eyes focus. This makes it look that much more noticeable and even wider. I have to give it thumbs down.

Looking at that Photoshop reminds me of how a guy would feel if he took a date home that had one of those slimming spandex-like underwear things on. Same reaction when it comes off, it was all there to begin with but it used to look better with clothes on ...

Without something to cut up the visual her ass is just too big looking. Put your bling back on baby .. please?!

(I’ve had too much coffee today.)

I don’t doubt the lights would be functional. Those LED strips can be annoyingly bright, but it looks bad. Unique sure, but bad in my opinion.
A:
ewwwwwwwwwwww!
A:
No likey!!
A:
What the heck is that.
People have too much money..
A:
Yeah, I think eliminating the two sets of lights has the effect of visually widening the back end, not an effect I dig. I actually like the existing tail lights, but I'd be open to removing the Lotus foil letters and cutting them out in the concave portion of the clam, lining the back with red plastic and lighting the letters from inside the trunk. A steady hand, a Dremel tool and somebody's else clam to work on is all you'd need!

I prefer cars with a large area that lights up - bright for the sake of bright just annoys people, a lot of lit up area makes it more obvious.

Think of the old Cadillacs that had narrow tail lights along the vertical bar that tried to evoke memories of tail fins. The lights were 8-12 inches tail, and about a half inch wide. They were not very noticeable. Compare that to my old '93 Accord - the tail lights are about 20 inches wide (on each side), and about 6 inches high. You notice those tail lights from far off.

I'm more interested in my tail lights working - people noticing them - than any possible improvement in appearance.
A:
AGAIN it is a photo chop
A:

This is what he wants to do(i think). Personaly I dont like it functionaly or astheticly
A:
