A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I need a good lawyer!!!
Can anybody help give me a good recommendation!!!
Well I guess with the way I drive (probably not unlike most of us) it had to happen sooner or later. I was out with a date and on my way up to Bear Mt. and she said I was doing about 95 when a mobile Christmas tree suddenly pulled up behind me. I puled over very quickly and simply told the man that I was out for a sunny day drive checking out the foliage. After writting the ticket for doing 90 in a 55 and telling me it could have been 95 in a 40 and I could have been arrested for reckless driving he said that he thought I had a temporary lapse of judgement .
Thank you in advance for any help!!!
PS What the heck does mean?

Thanx Noble,
I read that thread last night and it sounded a bit above my situation. Did I miss something? What should I have gleaned from it?

Just trying to see if there are any good referals out there...

Sorry to hear about the ticket, Jeff. It happens to the best of us.

what you were supposed to learn from transios ordeal is if youve gotten a ticket bigger than you can or want to handle, get a lawyer. asap.
A:
Why not just pay the ticket and take the points if you're not in jeopardy of losing your license or simply take driving school if you don't want the points? You'll spend a lot more on a lawyer than either of these.
I've gone to court and pled no contest on an 88 in a 55 and the judge withheld adjudication as my record had been clean for the few years preceding the ticket. That may be another option.
BTW, the big thing with transio's deal was that he got a criminal infraction.
A:
remember, that's what they do for a living. you did well by not arguing with him. go to court in your best suit and ask the prosecutor to downgrade the ticket to a no point or lower point violation. it will cost more money but you won't insurance surpoints. good luck. joeyevil

I actually got a speeding ticket near Bear Mtn. a few weeks ago. I've spoken with an attorney up there and if your ticket is from the Town of Highlands I may be able to pass on some info.
A:
That town has had a speed trap for over 40 years.

Why not just pay? Well, because you never know what the next one might be. You could pay for this one and get the points, and then get hit with another one that you can't fight later on, and suddenly the points/record adds up and you are in big trouble. Do what ever you can to reduce/eliminate any tickets and/or points so that you don't get burnt later on...

1st I'd like to thank you all for contributing to my thread.
Later on during my Bear Mt ride I stopped at one of my favorite photo and hiking spots with a lady friend and another couple came over to admire the car. We got to talking and I mentioned my ticket and he said go on the Porsche forum to see if he could come up with any lawyers. Then he showed me his '90 911 which was in mint condition. Something suddenly came over me and I asked him if he wanted to swap cars for a quick spin. He had told me he often tracks his car at Lime Rock so I guess I felt comfortable and since I had just come from Fridays Track Day I guess he felt cofortable too.
Anyway, I got an email from him just the other day and he pointrf me to this web site, www.speedlaw.com, and I called the # and Casey said it was a flat fee of $400 and he was pretty sure he could get the ticket down from 8 points to 4 and maybe 3 points without me having to appear.
I'll keep you all informed but the case may not come up fo r some time.

Well, if FL 12 points in 12 months will get your DL a timeout. This would be a 4 point ticket here. Hopefully, getting a ticket like that would slow your a$$ down for awhile, which is the point of the ticket in the first place (along with being a great source of revenue ). I think the chances of getting to the point of being in jeopardy of being suspended are relatively low.
Either way, I also posited taking school for it if he didn't want the points. I'd take either of those options before forking over a bunch of money to an attorney.
