A&Q about Lotus
Q:
What do you guys think? I emailed the seller informing him the title is better suited as a parts car..
A:
Repairs? Um. No.
Parts car methinks.
A:
Run Forest, Run.
A:
Yup, told him the chassis was toast.. whoever buys it will be pretty unsatisfied finding out it was not repairable..
A:
definitely a parts car. I don't think it's salvageable. The frame has been broken (clearly shown in some images).

Yep - that thing is toast.
A:
The pic of the passenger footwell tells it all. It's toast.
A:
The suspension mounting points are repairable but the damage to the cowl area and hinge post are possible past the point.
A:
Having repaired a wrecked Elise, trust me that this one is parts only. Chassis is dead and not worth the cost of replacing compared to buying a clean, used car. As a parts rig, not worth much as not much is sellable other then drive train stuff.
Bottom line to all out there, if the chassis is damaged at all, stay the hell away from it.

you having a laugh?
the chassis is toast, only way to repair that car is a new chassis (actually not that hard to change).
several muppets have tried to repair this sort of stuff by welding/gluing bit's back, total deathtraps:down:
bit that's scaring me is the way the lower mount inserts have pulled away from the tub, the glue is just not in the joints, that's quite scary to put it mildly.... never seen this happen before, the wishbone should have failed first.
A:
The shift knob looks ok. As Mr. T would say "I pity the fool that buys that car".
A:
Well, props to the seller for the detailed pics, but that chassis gone. Parts only, IMHO.
Tom
A:
Well, it's got to be said per Forum rules, so I'll do it:
That'll buff right out.
A:
Looks like they actually put dressing on those tires for the pics...now that's a first for a totaled/salvage car
A:
Maybe he crashed leaving the detailer's shop. It wouldn't be the first time. I seem to recall one in Canada.
