Can the boot be forced/pried open?

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Is the boot pry-proof? I leave nothing of high value or importance in the Elise, but I do leave my head unit in the boot.

I live in a condominium with a sometimes guarded, non-surveilled community garage on the basement level. My friend had his truck broken into just 4 or 5 spaces down. He kept his faceplate inside his glove compartment, but that didn't stop the thieves from breaking in and stealing his stereo and other stuff.

Although the thieves used a slim jim to break into my friend's truck, what's to stop some thieves from attempting to pry open my boot with a crow bar? Hell, what's to stop them from trying to use the hangar-pull the emergency-release method?

I am starting to be more tempted to bring my faceplate back into my place and/or get a new aftermarket alarm that can notify my phone if my alarm is set off.

Oh yeah, a few days before my friend got his truck broken into, someone set off my alarm when I had my car cover on it. Meaning someone had to have lifted the car cover to test my alarm.

It's even easier than prying, I wouldn't leave anything of value in the Lotus (or boot)
A:
Boot meaning engine lid? Yes, it's very easy. I left my keys in the trunk at Scottsdale Lotus one time. They simply lifted the lid from one side and pull the trunk release cord. Viola.

It's risky so I won't try it unless it was an emergency. Your lid may not be 100% flush afterwards.
