A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Since most people who go to Buttonwillow trailer their Elise, I think it's just the best idea to do it. However since I don't really have the needs for truck and trailer at the moment (track day would probably only like once a month for me max), so I decide not to own a truck and trailer at this moment as it makes sense logically and financially for me, but maybe later when I see the needs for it besides track day.
My question is where can I rent one (truck and trailer) in case another track event come up in South Cali
Thanks.

simple, simple...u-haul rents the pickup truck for 19.99/ day and i think the car trailer is like 29-39 a day. i believe on the 19.99 a day pickups, they give like 100 free miles but charge after that..call u-haul..they've always worked for me.

Yelorocket1, have you rent one before?
I called several truck rentals and they do not allow towing for their pick up truck. As far as Uhaul, it's $19.95/day + $.59/mile + $49.95 auto trailer. Since Willow Spring is about 300 miles roundtrip from SD, that would cost me close to $300 for everything including gas. too much... and for track day, that's another $120. that would mean for my track day, it would cost me close to $500/day. way too much for my budget.
Looks like I have to get an old truck before start tracking since I have no use of the truck whatsoever beside towing it to track, I wonder if an old truck can actually tow an Elise. i would just rent the auto trailer per track day.

Actually everyone drove their Elise/Exige to our Buttonwillow event this past Monday - except for Jack and his Cup car (not street legal). It is a bit of a haul (3.5hrs) but totally doable. If you're in SanDiego, you should stop by our shop - we're up in Temecula.

Buying an old truck is not a bad idea. I bought a brand new trailier for my car for $1600. Well worth the price. It is a double axle with electric brakes.
Our cars are so light a old 3/4 ton truck will hall them.

I dont mind driving, it's just that my A048 tires now are about 50% thread. And also I haven't purchased another set for street use only.
I am exploring this option just for the tires once I have another set dedicated just for track. If there is anyone in SD that can haul my 4 A048 tires when I have one, I can drive with my street tires no problem.
