A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Good luck Hammster - us car enthusiasts are all pulling for you!
A:
Some good news.
Condition upgraded to "stable" and "seriously ill."
A:
I hope he makes it, too... very funny and personable member of the cast. His Corvette piece was classic.
A:
I hope he recovers and continues on with the show.
This really sucks.

Thanks for the update Randy.
Hopefully he didn't break his back.
A:
Earlier today, Richard Hammond was filming a segment for Top Gear when the rocket car he was in flipped over at close to 300 MPH.

I hope he gets well soon. He's one of my favorites. Top Gear wouldn't be the same without him.
A:
wow that is terrible news. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
A:
Wow - I really hope he is O.K.
A:
I hope he is going to be ok. I really like that little (compared to Clarkson) guy
Luke
A:
Hope you have a speedy recovery (no pun intended) Hammond.
From a fellow little guy and car enthusiast.

Here's to hoping the Hamster is back at the wheel soon!
A:
No, not hamster !
Seriously when he came on the show it really started to take shape. Add a James May and you have the best combo in automotive TV ! Its like Monty Python does Automotive journalism. Hope he gets well quickly and gets back to doing what he enjoys !
A:
God Bless Richard Hammond. He and Jeremy are really great together. Hope for a speedy recovery.
cheers

I hope he makes a full recovery, he was my favorite. I can somewhat relate with him because I'm short also. LOL
But I just wonder something. He was attempting to set a UK record of 303mph. There doesn't seem much of a point to setting a record for a country when the world record is more prestegious. American soil hit 311mph way back in 1937 and we are over 760mph now. Heck, our top-fuel dragsters only need 1/4 mile to go 330mph.

The British love speed records. The American soil you mention above was used for the world land speed records by the British; Thrust SSC, jet powered 760mph, broke sound barrier etc etc, and more recently the diesel powered JCB car (330mph). Both driven by the same man actually. Anyway, although getting speed records is very important for the British and they do it the best, having a domestic speed record is still important as it's home soil, and you have to do it on things like concrete runways as there are no salt flats etc to do it on.
