A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Okay, enough with the laughs but it is true. I just bought the Lotus and there is no way in H*LL that I'm giving it back.
I'm 6"1, 195 lbs, 32" inseam, and a 36" waist. NO I'm not FAT and don't tell me to lose weight !!!!
Okay, this is the problem; The edges of the bottom of the seat DIG right into the sides of my A$$, and let me tell you after the ride from L.A. where I bought the car to Phoenix, I can barely sit.
At first I thought, simple enough, pull out the seat, take it to an upolstery shop, have them remove the leather, then take the bucket and cut out the sides, back to the shop, re-upholster with the original leather, DONE.
Well, not so easy, because on the left side of the seat is where the seat belt attaches, so no joy!!!
Now what?
Could you guys please help me out? I did some searches but couldn't really find anything. I will be using this car just for pleasure. No track time, mostly friday's to work and weekend cruises.
I would consider a seat change, but I would have to do both. I would rather have something that looks similar to factory. Or the best thing would be being able to modify the factory seats....
Please help me enjoy my LOTUS

Contact Sector 111, for example:

If I go to sector 111, all I see are the crazy competition CF seats. What is this "Tall Seat" that they are talking about in the link? Is it wider? I don't need the CF, that is for sure. Plus I would like to use the factory seat belts.

I think you may need a small flat memory foam pillow to raise you an inch or two.
Then your backside would be out of the "danger zone"...

There have been a few posts that might help. I did some searching and here they are:

Courtesy of RegGuy's links:
scroll halfway down to: UNIVERSAL SEAT 21 $119.99
I think that would do the trick.

Unfortunately, most of the aftermarket solutions will probably be carbon fiber. One idea - have you tried the Lotus sport seats? These are available at your dealer by special order. Might be a better fit.

Thank you for the responses you guys (not, xtn's response), but my problem is the bottom sides of the seat. I don't think the pad will help. It is not that I am overweight, the bottom sides are digging right into my lower hips!!! Ouchh it hurts just thinking about it. I will definitely have to try a pad, hopefully this will raise me up a little bit, but being tall already, raising myself up taller could create more issues.
I do like the one link where pads were added underneath the original upholstry, that sounds very comfy.
A:
EX,
Since the seat sides expand outward at a pretty good angle, I think adding a 1/2 inch of padding may be enough to make it comfortable. Why not grab a small and thinish throw pillow and sit on it. See if the extra height doesn't fix the pain in the a** you're getting from the seat.
I find it amazing you are that wide with that size waist, so I think it's a matter of fixing your seat height by a fraction of an inch to get you that comfort.
Check out my first link too, they had some good ideas.

ive been saying it all along anyone over 6 foot and 200 pounds is going to be unfreakincomfortable in these cars!! everyone keeps justifying it. finally a MAn with balls enough to admit it! thank you

Now what?
You need a big-a$$ seat!!

I'm 6'3" 225 lbs (I put on some weight recently) and fit just fine in the car. I just did a trip from Albuquerque to Livermore this past weekend; and again, I must say, this is the most comfortable long distance car I have ever owned. All other cars, Focus SVT, Porsche 996 and 997 have caused lower back pain over long distances, but not my Elise. Also, my a$$ and head fit just fine. I will not admit to something that is not the case. We are all built differently, you cannot just go my height and weight. I can post pictures of my a$$ sometime if anyone is interested, maybe that will explain why I fit so nicely in the Elise.

omigod...is any other post such an invitation for abuse? I am impressed at the restraint that I've seen so far.
but, just lay off of the cheese fries, my man....
you might try that foam tho....there's plenty of headroom in the car...it will look stupid tho

I have Sector 111's Tall Person's Seat because of the side rail problem. It completely solves that problem. On the other hand, all the lateral support makes ingress and egress more difficult (which is a fine trade-off if you like to drive on the track).
Before I got the Tall Person's Seat, I modified my passenger seat to adding some nice Kemmler foam underneath the stock seat cushion to make it more comfortable for my wife. It helped a lot! I couldn't do it to my stock seat because I was already sitting too high.
