A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Man, that A$$ in the air is killi'n me !!!!
Okay, I will try the pillow thing and see if this helps. But I also want it to look good. So, if the pillow thing works then maybe just adding some padding to the stock seat, might just do the trick.
Maybe it was just that 5 hour trip on Sunday, but man I'm in some serious pain right now
Anybody know of a nice hand stiched small black leather pillow, preferably with a Lotus Logo on it?

consider also how far back the seat is adjusted
a more forward seat position might put your body in a better alignment

I can make that for you.

I dont get it... I'm 6' tall, weigh 235lbs (ex D-line in College American Football), currently wear a 36" pant (and a European 58 suit).. and EVERYONE asks how i fit in the car... maybe I have enough padding on my ass that I cant feel the seat edge dig in..

Same here and ditto on the fit. The only discomfort I've ever felt has been from unfortunate placement of my (very thin) wallet, or pocket change or stuff in front pockets. I just got back to Denver from LOG in Texas and drove all the way in perfect comfort (and great enjoyment). I think that the suggestion for adding some padding to the seat bottom is right on target -- so to speak.
Rodney, you don't mention the year of your car. The '06 has much-superior seat padding (not more, just far better) than the '05. If yours is an '05, it may be worthwhile to try an '06 for comfort and maybe retrofit the seat upholstery.

what? you can't fit? I'm 5 11 210lbs 36inch waist, I fit comfy..

Thank you for your replies and funnies , however that last post from Rugby is one of the Nastyest things I have ever seen
Okay, so I went to target and got a small black faux suede pillow, removed some of the feathers out of it to make it the perfect fit and what did you know?? No more pain in the hips.
There was one question about what year my Lotus is, it is a '05.
Unfortunately, I can't live with a pillow, it slides all over the place when you get in then not only do you have to adjust your boyz now you have to adjust the pillow...
So, I think my next step will be to take the seat out. There was a link previously that showed someone adding padding under the seat, I think that might just be enough to do the trick.
I don't know why the sides of my butt hurts and others my same size don't have any pain
I might just take it over to the Local Upholster and see what he can do....
Thanks again for the advice, but for now the Pillow will do the trick!!!
So I'm back on the Road

You might see if you can find an '06 to sit in. The '06 seats are different and if they're more comfortable for you, you can probably get a set installed without a lot of trouble.
That said, I have a similar waistline (though am shorter and fatter), and I have had the same issue you're talking about but with the '06 seats. For me it consistently only digs in on the left side, so it probably also has something to do with angle of the pedals/wheel relative to the seat. After my first track day I was pretty sore there, but in daily driving and even 100-mile spirited drives it hasn't been a big problem.

Whoa... there Fly, speak for yourself! I'm 6'2, 34/34 210lbs and this is the most comfortable car I have ever had for long distance runs (as in Knoxville to Fla and back, bringing it home from Jersey, etc.) as well as short distance. Even with the sport suspension it's not a problem. I'm not surpised that just a little wider has a huge effect as the seats seem tailor made for my build.

I'm 6'0" and about 180. My hip bones seems to kindof rest on the edges of the seats and kill me after a few hundred miles. Under that and they are amazing!

Same here -(6" and 170) the tube in the left side of the seat digs into the side of my left leg - but its not so bad I cant live with it. I sat in an 06 seat in the showroom and they do seem more comfrortable. The padding is better but if the frame is the same I wonder if the tube would still get me after a while.

I have found the solution to this problem. Give me a bit and I'll see if I can find where you can buy it. We're talking about 15 bucks or so. It's a pad and fits the seat bottom almost to a "T". Gimmee a sec on this. If nothing else, I'll snap a pic-but I'd rather find it on the net.h

OK, I found mine at Pep Boys. It looks a lot like this. It is wedge shaped. Made of memory foam. It lifts your hips up out of the base of the seat so that your hips/thighs don't rub the side rail of the seat. This is not the exact product. Mine has a black cloth cover vs. vinyl. Pep Boys on line does not list seat pads. But look for something like this. It fits my Exige and I've used it in Elises also. I think I paid around $15 for it. I have driven up to 18 hours with minor rest stops with this pad. You can turn the pad in four different directions and upside down to change the pressure points on yer butt. Good luck.

We know several people who suffer your same situation. There aren't many but a handful exist. We're working on getting our BNTseat into production (that's the Big 'N Tall seat ). Chococar has been a great help to us on this development. It's taking us a while to get it going but it'll be a viable solution for you. I'm not yet ready to commit to the launch date but rest assured that when we set our mind to commercializing a product, it usually happens. BTW: The BNTseat will be much more affordable than the CF seats you see on our site.
If you don't get our e-newsletter, email me at shinoo'at'sector111.com and we'll get you onto our mailing list for the latest product updates/releases.
