Elises in Wisconsin

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I figured I'ld be the only one in WI to have one. I had my '05 Elise 1 week when I spotted another Elise in this tiny town of Twin Lakes!

So how many are out there?

John

Welcome to the group!

I've had my Ardent Red LSS Elise since Jan. '05 and this summer another gentleman here in Racine, tesprit, bought an Ardent Red Elise as well. A month or so ago a new member here from Milwaukee bought a silver Elise and his friend bought a Lotus Sport Elise. I was just driving through the East Side of Milwaukee and saw a Speed Yellow Elise parallel parked on Farwell (brave guy). There's another one out in the NW corner of the state somewhere near La Crosse, I believe.

We've been putting together plans for all of us to meet and go for a drive through the Holy Hill area on Sat. 10/28, weather permitting. Would you like to come?

A:
I met someone in Minocqua who owns an Elise. I've taken mine to Eagle River and Door County.
A:
Absolutely! I don't know where Holy Hill is but I'm game for a cruise.
A:
My motor is just broke in so I'm lettin' her fly just a a little bit. Watching some race track videos offered from this this site has my heart pounding (literally).
I love driving this car
Does anyone know how many miles can be logged before a rebuild is in order?
BTW-Despite all of my friends telling me it is a chick magnet, it is not. It is a guy magnet. The only chicks I have met are the the daughters or girlfriend's of the guys that have stopped to check out the car. Hopefully, this will change!
A:
Looks like mine makes #8. It's another Ardent Red. I'm in Northeast Wisconsin, and the only time I have seen one on the road around here was at Road America, and that one had IL plates. What color is yours?...Just in case I see another one.
A:
I have one of those yellow with black trim deals. Looks like a bee. Plates will be "OH YEAH2" when they arrive. That was my 16 yr old's suggestion. I liked "Smokin'", but my 18 yr old said it was lame, so OH YEAH2 it is.....
For the older fogeys than me watch Ferris Beuhler's day Off (SP?)
A:
Welcome. Count one more. Got my Ardent Red in March 05. LSS and hardtop. The only other Elise I’ve seen was also at Road America. Yellow with Illinois plates.

A buddy who works at the Minocqua hospital said there’s a doctor who has a green Elise. Not sure if it’s British or Krypton green.
A:
my st is on rent to someone from minocqua(sp) now and will be there for a few days. I live in the northern suburbs of chicago but will travel for twisty roads or beer. one of my favorite qick drive destinations is the brat stop in kenosha
A:
Hey Zen - do you want to come up for our Holy Hill drive on the 28th? It's a bit of a ride for you, but should be fun. I'm thinking that we should start with a late breakfast/early lunch somewhere and then head up. If you're coming from IL Dan and I could meet up with you on I-94 and Hwy. 20 and head on up.

Hey Zen-
I just clicked on your Lotus4rent link and the information is a little off. Power steering, power seats, cruise control, etc. May want to update it.

my lotai are special.....or actually my web guy is retarded. when i bought the lotus he had no idea what they were not to mention the smarts. i figure most who will rent the elise know the car. we had a customer drive 3.5 hrs today to pick up their car, they knew what they were getting and i had a good time explaining the car to them.
A:
I am fairly new to the forums as well and have not met any other owners. Is there any interest in getting a group together for a ride? I daily drive my Elise, so the weather is not TOO much of a concern for me.

Holy Hill is about 30 miles NW of Milwaukee. Hilly roads, there's a church where you can climb the steeple for great view of the area. People claim to have there ills cured, too. I'd take the last one with a grain of salt!

Cruised up there today (10/21). Some nice curvy roads with ridiculously low speed limits. I was too chicken to press the turns as the roads were wet and sometimes alot of wet leaves. The climp to the top of the steeple sure got my heart pounding!

The trip almost started with disaster. I forgot to press the clutch in when I pressed the start engine button. The car was in first and lurched forward. Thank goodness the parking brake was on and the car is so small otherwise it would have rammed into my 450 pound drill press!

Twin Lakes? Gf's family has property in Three Lakes. No Elise though.
A:
I saw an Exige parked at the Perkins in Delafield last night around 6:30pm. Anyone from here?
A:
Not sure how many are in Wisconson, but I do know there's one less now that I brought mine home to Iowa (from Milwaukee).
A:
I used to work at Foreign Car Specialists in Madison. There's a lot of great old Lotus stuff there, including elans, 7's a very rare series 4 7, and a rare elan +2. He doesn't own an elise, but has had one on and off at his shop since 2001. He did track days and driving instruction for the owner quite a bit in 2003-2004.
A:
Ok, we're on for the Holy Hill drive for next weekend. I've posted the details in a new thread on the Meets section:

Should be fun.
