Opinions on "Ricer" Lights?

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I discovered something funny on my TT the other day. There's a switch down by the dead pedal that turns on some blue lights installed throughout the cabin - in the AC vents, behind the door handles, etc. etc. I call them "ricer lights" cause you see them on ricers. They're not really my cup of tea, but they were really well done, and it was a neat discovery. I talked to the previous owner, and he said that the original owner of the car was a company that sold and installed these things and used the TT as a demo car.

My question to you guys is... how cheesy are these? I showed them to my 18 year-old cousin and he thought they were sweet. I can't help but feel a little ridiculous with them turned on, though. Whaddya guys think?

(I'll get pics tonight when it gets dark.)
A:
Steve do you really have to ask?
A:
Not really. I guess I could just leave them off, but just knowing they're there kinda makes me wanna use 'em.
A:
I think they are cheesy in concept, but I agree; If I had them I'd probably use them. Gotta see pics to say for sure.

Steve:

At least you bought the car that way. If you had spent additional time and funds to do that we'd have to hit you with the 12-cup Panasonic Rice Cooker award. Heheh
A:
If you are over 21 years old and had installed them yourself - then I would second your nomination for the dubious ricer award. But since they were already there and you only know about them through discovery, you are judgement proof.

Using them? Well I understand the temptation but it might be hard not to feel a bit rediculous when you pull up to a red light at night and people can see in - at least if you are an older person. If you can pass for someone in their 20's then I think you would get a pass.

But I haven't seen your lights and they might be done very well - besides who gives a crap what anyone thinks as long as you like them. The ricers sure are not concerned when they bolt all that body cladding and giant spoilers and cat-back systems you can stick your whole head into. Not to mention the over-the-top use of lighting both interior and exterior.
A:
I think they make your car exotic.

A:
How obvious are they? Better yet, how much do you think they weigh? Just kidding. Lets see some pictures.

A while back I replaced some of the vacume hoses in my engine bay with blue silicone hoses, I really liked them for a while but now I am getting a bit tired of them. In your case all you have to do is flip a switch whenever you want/don't want to see them.

Blue lights in the cabin? That sounds sweet. POST PICS!
A:
I have blue lights on my car. No danger of people not seeing this ricer at night.

Leave the lights, tie in some blue and red rocker panel fluorescents and add some Pimpstars.

They look great on Mike's Exige.
A:
the wheels themselves look ok, but I like what they can do.
A:
Pics of the lights. Second one shows the blue boost gauge under the dash (right of the steering wheel). Also a pic of my new Fikse wheels mounted.
A:
Doesn't look too bad. Id lose the vent lights

Exterior Shots with them on?
A:
Damn, the lights shining on the pedals look bright!
A:
Dat's duh shiznit, yo!

Now just add under body neon, 20" woofers and a monster body kit and you'll be the man, dog!
A:
