Outdoor Car Cover

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Does anyone know where to buy a good outdoor car cover for Elise? Or can recommend one...

Thanks.
A:
Try the weathershield from sector111. Some water does get through but it's not too bad. The fit is good. The second that i just got seems to have a thicker material. I have not try that one with the rain yet. The only problem is the color is faded pretty quickly, so you may not want to get the fancy color ones. Both of mine are gray.

Can the car cover fit the trunk compartment? Hopefully I dont have to put the cover in the passenger seat everytime I drive the car. I am looking for car cover that can withstand sun shine all day long as I am occasionally use the car to work. It doesn't have to withstand rain (water) although it would be great to have it as well, since I have my other car to take for rainy days.

Larry, there is no Evolution in the link you provided. what they have are

Multiweave II
Softweave
Plushweave
Dustop
Stormweave
Noah
Superweave
Customweave

Thanks.

I found this out just the other week. I was folding the cover away and noticed the significant color change between the exposed and unexposed areas. Mine used to be red/black... now it's red, black, gray, and pink.

I haven't tried mine in the rain yet. But have had considerable dew build up on the cover. If the cover gets wet in anyway an effort needs to be made to dry it out before using it again.

Ask for SUPERWEAVE.

YES IT FITS IN THE TRUNK -- Mine is there all the time! And mine is on my car over 20 hours a day...

Rain and shine..................doesn't blow off although you can get a cable to lock it on for safekeeping. Keeps prying eyes away too.

Get the Lotus car cover... it works great, fit's perfect and let's no water in. It won't blow off in high winds either.

Lotus F1, any link for the shop to purchase lotus car cover?

+1 for the Weathershield. It's lightweight, snug-fitting, easy to store in boot WITH other stuff.. and more importantly for me, it can be easily washed in a normal washer. I had the one of the high-dollar thick ones before and it also let moisture thru and was a dirt and dust magnet. It was very difficult to clean.. requires a very large-capacity front-loader. When I lived at the beach, the "Evo" cover actually allowed sea spray thru the cover at night, then during the day, the cover allowed the moisture back out (good thing), but it left the salt behind!! When I removed the cover, my car (thankfully NOT the Lotus) would often be covered with a white layer of salt!

I use the lotus (thin, gray) full-car outdoor cover and after heavy wind and rain I do sometimes find a little water under it. Last night before it rained I parked the car facing uphill with the cover on it. When I took it off today the outside of the cover was dry, but there was water in the boot lid seal area (where it can spill over and leak if the lid is not tight) and a few drops of water inside the cabin where the roof is known to leak.

I assume the material's not completely watertight, since it would trap water underneath if you put it on a damp car. You want it to breathe enough to let water out. Apparently in some circumstances water can go through the material in the "wrong" direction, though.

I got it from Hunting Ridge Motors. I know they will ship it to you if needed.

It's a very good cover. I have some of the more expensive covers out there and even to my surprise I like this one best by far.

dododge..your getting a few drops of water after heavy rain and wind for a outside cover... i think most would find this totally acceptable. Anything that is a 100% barrier would probably not breath at all.

I have had water pooling on the outside of the cover over the rear boot. That tells me its doing an excellent job of keeping most of the water out.
