Where do you put your registration and insurance info?

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I dont see any pocket to hold any doc, except one that is on top of cigarette lighter, but I dont even count that as a storage.

Where do you guys put your paperwork?

Thanks.
A:
I bought one of these from www.ebags.com. It's 5 bucks and fits nicely under the front of the passenger seat. It's not visible when it's tucked in there and I keep a minimag lite, tire preasure gauge and a couple of maps in it too. Here's the link:

My registration is in the small mesh pouch behind the driver's seat. State Farm has insurance cards made of plastic and the size of credit cards, so they are in my wallet behind my driver's license.
A:
A small black leather business card-sized folder. I store it in the small space between the Heater/AC controls and the steering column.

I find that the cops get a little anxious when you reach under the seat.

I don't keep anything in any of my cars.
A:
In California it is state law that you keep your proof of insurance in your vehicle. I would keep it in the books on top of the battery.
A:
But that would mean everytime you get pulled over, you have to get out of the car, which is not a good thing as cop might think you want to attack him/her...
A:
In the holster under my seat with my Glock 9mm. Isn't that the best place for it?

Actually, Liberty Travel gives these really nice carry pouches with your tickets. We use them so I've gotten a few. They work great for auto paperwork too. That stays in the mesh holder behind my seat.
A:
I always tell the cop I don't have my license, insurance or regi on me and if he wants to ticket me I'll deal with it later. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It's no points anyways so I have copies made and mailed in with the tickets.
A:
State Farm has plastic holders that I put two-sided tape on and taped on the metal where my left calf is when I drive. Near the dead pedal.
A:
I have a plastic holder like proudpop described, but I keep it in the mesh pocket between the seats.
A:
Business card holder/ small wallet in the mesh pocked, it is black and blends in nicely, not easily noticed by passers by.
A:
My insurance cars are in my wallet. My registration is in the Owner's Manual holder on the top of the battery. If the cop wants to see it, I'm getting out of the car. I do that anyway if I'm pulled over, so the cop and I can both stand on the curb, out of danger from passing cars.
A:
In a ziploc bag in the net behind the seat.
A:
A Leed's Padfolio Jr. wedged between the drivers seat and the chassis sill.
A:
I keep mine locked in the glove box, right next to the cup holder
A:
in the boot in the battery cover thingy. If I get pulled over, I'll just explain the car has no glove box or storage in the cockpit.

A:
wedged between the passenger seat and the chassis sill inside a bubble wrap envelope along with a map of my area and my front license plate ("it just fell off today officer!").
A:
I moved the factory "tools" to a leather side pocked and added the registration and insurance documents to the roll.
A:
I find it's best to keep it in the trunk. That way you have more time to chat up the officer and get out of the ticket. 85 in a 35 construction zone with no ticket on the way to meet up with the Sunday drive. Works like a charm.
