In the pocket of the owner's manual, inside the Lotus bag:
which is part of this complete breakfast:
The little bag also holds jumper cables, a few tools, first-aid kit, flashlight, etc.

I agree w/Fastliz and others. The insurance card goes in the trunk and you simply explain that you have to get it. "Look, no glove box." It's not been a problem for me after 3 times (only 1 ticket).
Rachel's right: this promotes conversation.
I keep registration in my wallet for security.
Nothing in the car has my address on it. I mark it out on the insurance card. I've been told this is a good idea.
A:
Black glossy envelope in the net mesh behind the driver's seat. But having read this thread I think I'll throw it into the trunk... it promotes a conversation, and the more I converse, the less likely I am to be ticketed... the latest bit: "I'll bet you this ticket that you will not be able to keep this car under 65!"

I keep mine in my wallet, ready to hand!
A:
Insurance card and registration in clear plastic sleeves, stored in the elastic mesh behind the seats.
The owner's manual is stored on the top cubbyhole of the battery cover in the trunk.

I would say trunk sounds like the best bet so far. I wish the lotus had some place to store stuff but I wonder has anyone had anything start to melt in their trunks before?
A:
I put the registration, folded in half, in the drivers side pocket. (under the start button) It doesn't blow out because my garage remote is on top of it.

I used to keep mine in the trunk, but after a run-in with Johnny Law where I had to paw around underneath a couple of duffel bags to find the paperwork, I now keep everything in the black mesh holder behind the seats. I think it's best not to annoy the cop by making them wait - conversation or not.
