A&Q about Lotus
Q:
Has anyone had any experience with this dealership? Sales/Service/etc? Good/Bad? What's your take? Inquiring minds want to know!

They have a lot of exotic cars which I think elise is cheapest. They are fun to visit but seem to have a little bit of a snobbish attitude that you dont find at HRM.
Fun to visit though

That's the impression I got when I talked to them at the NYIAS in April. I am planning on stopping by there to see if they are really selling a new 05 for $35.9K, but I just wanted to know what sort of attitude I may find.
Anyone here bought a car from them? Had service done?
A:
I am going there for service next week.

I waited a month+ to get my hard top from them after the salesperson left. I would definitely suggest HRM. I had left them with a list of 5-6 things, including the shifter recall I wanted done when I picked up the car. They did none of them.
And wow, that's cheap. I just bought an 05 in August from them for 40K (with hardtop). Tell us more about your deal.

No deal really, it's just a car and price they had posted as "no reserve" on eBay. No bids. $35.9K, TP. I just wanted to check the place out, but I feel they may have "bigger and better" people to deal with than some guy interested in a Lowly Lowtus.

I've worked with them. Mainly their branch in the Hamptons. PM me and I will give you the number and who to call. He will take care of you and has no problems selling an Elise. They have them so they want to sell them.
A:
Absolutely no reason to deal with them when you have HRM so close. Service stories are numerous during 17 years in Manhattan. Give Mark Starr a try, you won't be sorry.
A:
$35.9K is about right for a standard car with touring, standard paint and no hardtop.
I dunno..personally for $3K-$4k difference in prices I can put up with the attitude and snobbishness

I had sort of a bad experience there yesterday, as a salesperson there did something extremely rude as I was in front of their showroom. He probably didn't know I was there to talk to someone about a car. Too bad for him.
When my seasonal travels are done, I will have more time to go talk to different dealerships. HRM is like 65 miles from where I am (on the other side of NYC), that's the only problem. I **HATE** NY traffic.

The only thing with HRM service is that they are very overloaded right now and Niall the Service Manager and Rafael have left. I am hoping they gear up to fix cars quicker.

Bought my car from HRM over the phone overnighted a check and had the car trucked down very easy to deal with. I would definitely suggest them, very trustworthy.

The short version is that he intentionally waited until I was directly in front of the Roll Royce that he was showing a customer to test the horn. It made me jump a bit because it was really loud. Then he laughed about it, and gave me a cheesy "Sorry" while laughing. I didn't find it funny.

what a dick. You should have started abusing the loser

Mann Motorcars -they are worthless. Yhey know nothing about the car. Go to Huntingridge Motors they are real car people and they couldn't be nicer!

Hey Cardinal,
Please call me to discuss. I'd be more than glad to help you any way I can. Even if it's recomending MMC to sell you a car if I think it's right. Please call me at 914 939-7200. Trouble on the phone lines today so it might be difficult getting through...............Regards,
Mark Starr

Starlight111...you missed half the fun by having the car trucked down. They are a car enthusiasts dream, with an amazing collection of cars for sale, unlike anything we have down here. Kind of reminds me of how Algar was many years ago. I do absolutely agree with you on the easy to deal with part. I think I spent about 10 minutes in total with Mark on the phone and the deal was done. Got there and took about another 10 minutes on the paperwork, but did take a tour of the facility which took about another 30 minutes. Still only about an hour in total. By far, the shortest amount of time of any car I have ever purchased.
To Cardinal...I don't know Manhattan Motorcars, but these are special cars with their own quirks. Not that they are troublesome. If you have noticed, most of the problems mentioned on this board are pretty minor. But you want to buy from someone who specializes in Lotus, and knows those quirks. I can tell you from touring their facilities, they bleed Lotus green. BTW, I came up from South Jersey...about twice your distance, and it was well worth the trip.
