A&Q about Lotus
Q:
That pretty much explains it all... I've seen & heard of people with 340's in the US and was wondering how you get them and where? What's the process??? Anyone with one have some advice or info?? Thanks!

Give Hunting Ridge Motorsports a call.
It's track-only, not road legal. Even if you have "friends" at the DMV to register it, the car would be confiscated and crushed if the feds catch you on the streets with one (e.g., don't drive to the border with it...)

Still cracks me up, cant find Osama/WMD's in Iraq/or the thousands of missing children in the Us. every year but our Govt. can/will track down your harmless beautiful car and take it from you. Nice use of funding and manpower
AHHHHHH!!! The face of evil, dont let it touch our classy fine public roadways littered with 1980's rusted out Honda Accords, and a Ford Taurus on every corner.......

Just drop a 300hp supercharged K20A into it and register it as a kit car.

They don't waste manpower tracking you down...because they don't know you exist. However, if you should do something to bring your existence to their attention...say, like busting an Enzo in half with a power pole at 162 mph, they take your toys away from you with no compensation and have you talk to a judge about the perjury aspect of submitting fraudulent government paperwork.

If i lived in a country where 340R was illegal, i would move out right away.

Well, you do know you have more people die from gunshots in your country
Also in two years of ownership, no-one yelled at me, spitted on my car or did anything esle, even though i drive it daily and leave it in public places. Russia might be poor (mostly) but it aint as bad as you think
Anyway, lets not move off topic. This statment was made to say that banning 340r from road and leaving 80s civics is just plain DISTURBING.

Not only can Russians drive a 340R on the streets, they have a market-oriented flat tax while we are the ones stuck with a communist tax system. How'd that happen?
The only way to get a 340R on the street is to put silly bumpers on it, pay $$$ for an importer to federalize it, then pay $$$ for the silly bumpers to be removed. Costs enough that you might as well just buy an Enzo. There's also an exemption allowing limited use for vehicles with historic significance. Good luck getting that sign-off...

We need the extra funds since we're actually keeping track of our nukes.

You must drive yours all the time, then!

i agree. call hrm.
on the comment about gun deaths in the us, this is my reply:
Russia is also suffering from declining marriage rates and rising divorce rates. Plus, the death rate from injury (including accidents, murders, suicides) is very high.
For men under 65 years of age, Russia's death rate from injury and poisoning is currently over four times as high as Finland's, the nation with the worst rate in the EU. Russia's violent death rate for men under 65 is nearly six times as high as Belgium's, over nine times as high as Israel's, and over a dozen times that of the United Kingdom. As is well known, men are more likely than women to die violent deaths—but in a gruesome crossover, these death rates for Russian women are now higher than for most western European men.
Russian male life expectancy is below 60 years.
:the above statistics and commentary copied and pasted from an international census website.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...all you need is a dealer tag! A guy here in town has an exige Cup car as well as the 340R...sticks a dealer plate on it and never gets asked!

I just saw one at HRM in CT on Monday. I saw a few in Chichester England at the Goodwood festival of speed in '03. That was the year Ford had the three GT40's that went 1,2,3 in Lemans as the "centerpiece. Wild looking car. I snapped a picture. Me being ignorant thought it was a "mod" at the time. A truly wicked ride.

I don't know if they have it anymore, but Symbolic in La Jolla had one in their showroom last year when I got my Elise.
A:
Wirewheels.com in Vero Beach had 2 of them last time I checked.
PS Also found out that the guy that was importing Elises back in the 90's and went to jail for falsifing their registrations is back in the car business in FL and is ripping people off again. Warning:It doesnt show up until page 9 or 10 and then there is a lot of yelling back and forth. The guy whines about his jail time.
