A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I just got my new Elise (second one) it was a base model Solar Yellow. Went right out and had the seats done in Yellow perf and charcoal leather. Also got an Arqray twin tip setup for it. Sounds great and not too loud if you keep the revs down. Pics are at www.fquick.com/quicker

They look sweet. Congrats on the new acquisition.
A:
Very nice, looks great. If you don't mind me asking, how much does a mod like that cost?
I've never seen a car get so many modificatons as I have seen on the Elise on this site. Lots of great mods on this website.

looks awesome !!
A:
Did you buy the seats? or just had then re-upolstered?
A:
I had them re-upolstered at Riggs Brothers in Naperville IL, the entire job, doors and seats was $2500.
Don't forget the doors were painted and need to be re-coverd with leather also.

hopefully this attaching works to help "viewing"

Added more stuff...RAC Minilites and new A048 tires save me over 30 lbs. Unsprung weight too.
A:
Did you have the sport package before the Monolites? I've been lookin at getting some. What finish did you choose?
A:
I did not get the sport package. Bought a base car cuz I wanted to add my own upgrades, and did not want electric windows etc. Wheels are finished black as you can see. Ohlins or Nitrons are next. I'm thinking Nitrons cuz they seem easier to dial in without screwing up,but Ohlins make a good argument so I can Get a smoother ride. Anybody?

Why don't you want electric windows? Did you know that the electric windows in the Elise are lighter than the manual ones? If you can get weight savings and a bit of convenience, I think it's a win-win situation.

But then you also get the carpets on the sides, and the leather seats. The difference in weights between electric and manual is only a few onces, but the Touring Pack weighs several pounds more...
Not a big deal either way. As for the convenience, I prefer the manual windows so that i can wind them up without needing the key.
A:
Other than being able to use the windows without the key. Which I really like. I have more faith in the manual mechanism than in the motor-battery system.

This is true. The window motors is usually the first thing to go bellyup on a lot of older cars.
Unless you've owned a Ford Escort, then the mechanical ones are the first things to go at 55,000 miles...

3.5 oz lighter per side, 7 oz in total.
