Can I rent one?

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
I recently fell in love with the Lotus Elise, and I really want to drive one. I heard that there are places that rent them.

Does anybody know where? And how much it would cost?

I live in Los Angeles.

I'll do some research and let you know if I find out...but any help would be great.
A:
There's a member here who rents them in Chicago for $200 a day. There are likely similar deals in LA. Many rental fleets are picking them up.

It would help to know where you are located.

I live in the Los Angeles part of Los Angeles. I just found out - Enterprise rents them here. They're $200/day and I have to use my own insurance (which I guess is smart on their part). Who knew - Enterprise renting Lotus - seems strange. Anyway - sounds like a good $600 weekend - it's worth it - drive out to the middle of nowhere and see what it can do
A:
You may want to check and see how many miles are included with that rate.
Years ago I rented a Ferrari 328GTS in Maui (played Magnum PI for a day), the first 50 miles were included however it was $1/mile (not a typo) after that. Regardless, I put nearly 200 miles on the car anyway.

I was just going to say I saw a red Elise at an Enterprise in Newport so you might want to check with them. Have fun

I bet this trend toward renting Elises makes our insurance rates go through the roof.

Article about Enterprise rentals...

They said 100 miles are included per day, and it's $.75 for extra miles. So I'll have to watch it a little, but 300 miles is quite a bit in LA.

I can't wait - I wish it was Friday!!! I know I'm gonna love driving this thing!

By middle of nowhere, I recommend you take it up Angeles Crest and Mulholland Drive.

Keep in mind, if you like it. Dealers are offering discounts on 2006s. Also, there's an open house at South Bay Lotus this Saturday and they'll have a 2007 supercharged Exige S there.

On second thought, you could take a test drive there for free on Saturday and then rent an Elise on Sunday.

Black & White Car Rental in Beverly Hills ... I think it was $199 per day. They are only open till 3 pm on saturdays and not at all on sundays so if you're trying to rent on a weekend day you would be locked into multiple day rental even if you don't want to
