A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I will be the service manager for a new Lotus dealer in the West Palm Beach area. I would like to know of any members in the area, or out of the area who just aren't happy with their dealers. I won't be there until around the first of the year, but I would like to get to know owners in the area.
I was the lead tech at dimmitt lotus for the last 7 years and have a loyal following, so I know these cars inside and out. I personally installed 3 forced fed turbo kits, taken a car down to the frame, even replaced an engine, ( dont try to shift into third at 100 mph) and can do any mods or custom work you may need.
When I get settled I will be organizing track days ( Moroso?) and other events , so let me know what you would like . Thanks. Jason

Thanks for the heads up, I wish you were in Orlando Dimmitt is the closest dealership to me and I bought my car in Texas and have not needed to visit a dealership (yet) so, I am still hoping one will open here.
Perhaps you know my Ex from Orlando Alisa B? she had quite a few issues with her Black 05 and told me you left Dimmitt?
Congrats on the new job

I live in Melbourne on the East Coast and have purchased my car at The Collection in Miami and have had my car serviced by Dimmitt and World Imports in Jacksonville. I had terrible follow through service by Chris at Dimmitt and presently like Pat at World Imports and his service tech very much. West Palm would become the closest dealership to me and I would prolly give you a shot....so long as it ends up being taken care of better than Chris did me. Enough bashing I guess....gluck on the move and I'll prolly see you in the new year!

Jason,
Congradulations on your new position. We really need someone who cares about the car to provide good service. I am also happy to hear that you will be organizing track days and other events in florida. We really need that to promote the brand.

Did you mention track events??? That's a new twist to Lotus ownership in FL. Tired of seeing everyone from CA talk about them. Keep us posted. Congrats on the switch. Now, get Felix down there and that service center would rock.
A:
Felix is a great tech, but he will not be a lotus tech much longer. Moviing to another brand.

Where is the shop going to be, I like your references above on the upgrade work, Motors Cars of the Palm Beach does not cater too much about loti, they like 500 buck oil changes and putting avon tires on db9s, but we welcome you to the area, I participate in a lot of NASA track events and PCA also welcomes the lotus in, would love to help do some track days lotus only, let me Know.
Mitch pm me for contact info.

Oh no...who's left at Dimmitt's then???? Felix is awsome. Lambo tech now?
A:

Is Palm Beach Motorcars not going to sell Lotus' anymore?
I cant believe that they would Lotus put another dealership in town without putting up a stink, but maybe they want to focus on Jags and Aston Martins instead. I was also shocked when Maplecrest gave up the dealership in NJ after having it for so many years.
In any case, I would welcome the competition from a new dealership. Palm Beach is extremly high with service charges- $400 oil changes, $175 air filter replacements, and $900 alignments. Not to mention the other padding they add on for "shop fees and environmental charges"
Will you be servicing only Elises, or Esprits and Europa models too? The Esprit Mechanic left West Palm about a year ago, and most of those owners go to Foreign Toys in Ft Lauderdale since the owner their is an expert on Esprits.
You may also want to post in the Yahoo South Florida Lotus Message Board, since a lot of local owners post their too. A lot of Lotus owners are getting together this Saturday in Jupiter for a drive, along with Porsche and Ferrari owners- see the details in the Meetings section of the site if you want to join us.

What is your personal opinion on Dimmitt's services? You arnt leaving because of the company rather then a better job opportunity, right? Asking because I have a appointment in a couple of days for my 15k service. THX!

Congrats on the new job! But dammit Dimmitt, first I lose Jason, now I lose Felix? I was surprised the last time I had my car in that you were gone and I was afraid of what would happen to my car. After talking to Felix for awhile and my fears subsided and he did a great job. Any idea of his replacement?
