A&Q about Lotus
Q:
I'm curious on what auto insurance companies people are using to insure their Elise. So far I've tried 6 companies and either their requirements are rediculuous or the premium is very expensive. Are there any insurance companies better than others? What should a reasonable premium be? Any help would be much appreciated.

Where are you located?
Here in OHIO I wse State Farm Insurance. Costs about $100 a month.
A:
Progressive and Amex are the two companies I've insured my Lotus with. Amex is something else now, but it's available through Costco and has saved me at least 1k a year. There's another thread about this if you search around.
A:
I am using 21st century. They were about $1000 cheaper than Mercury!
A:
Wawanesa - $50/month as a weekend car.
A:
AMEX is now Ameriprise... Great company to go with, unfortunately they won't insure a Lotus unless you've had 10 years of experience. State Farm is another good one, they handled my claim VERY well.
I will try Wawanesa next.

wawanesa
95$ a month, commuter

Allstate.

I was with Allstate until they excluded HPDE coverage. That was right around $100/mo. Now I'm with State Farm. Maybe $90 a month, I don't remember. Daily driver.

I was at $300/mo with State Farm - Weekend car, no tickets or accidents, and good student discount. Who the hell knows what it will cost now. I don't even know if i'll be able to insure my next Lotus...
A:
$50/month with State Farm for me.
A:
USAA $800 per yr.
A:
IIRC (i'd have to look at home for exact figures), i'm paying ~$135 as a pleasure car with USAA...
I'm 22 (clean record, knock on wood) so that is probably why its a little more than others
oh, hey rob!! welcome to e-talk
A:
Nationwide, $70/month for 100/300 coverage with (theoretically) 2 drivers. My Truck runs me $50/month for same. 350Z is $60/month.

Same here, less than $600/yr as 4th car w/ Wawanesa, btw $750 a year for my GT3 a year as second car.

I've read every line of my policy and the addendas and still haven't been hit with it.... yet. I'm planning the same leap when/if it happens.
Most folks I know shop for insurance by comparing prices. I've always shopped by talking to bodyshops. Allstate & State Farm have always been at the top and Progressive has always been at the bottom of the unofficial reviews I've received.
On the up side, Progressive will insure anything.

I am paying $114 month for full coverage with 2 drivers with Mercury. Also some factors in chosing are ... how old are you, what is your record like and where do you live ! Different companies might have different biases on those things. My area here on the west side of LA has really high insurance because of so many accidents and one of the biggest car theft areas in the country.

Ameriprise has now changed to something else, got a letter and voicemail in the past few weeks regarding this. Not true about 10 years of experience. I've only been legally driving for 8 and been with them for a almost a year.
