A&Q about Lotus

Q:
A good portion of the North Texas club worked the concours the better part of the day so my photo taking opportunities were severely limited.

Still, I managed to grab a few shots of some things that I found interesting... (starting with a moment of gratuitous self-promotion)

What's with the blackened rear panel in that red Elise in the first picture?
A:
I would greatly appreciate more detail photos of the Exige S.

Thanks

The number are from blairgraphix too ...

Here's a pic from some of us TX boyz working hard to setup for the concourse...

I'll start a new thread. The pics I took of it were merely to document the layout for some of the folks here who are more familiar with the Toyota powerplant than I am. In other words, they're not very good but do show how the system is packaged.

One of the guys standing near the car yelled "Hey look, one of the GM engineers showed up!" while I was taking the pics.

It was pretty obvious to everyone what I was doing.

Exige S engine compartment pics here.

Unfotunately, I didn't get too many pics at all. We TX boys were quickly recruited to count ballots and the cars were parked very close together for the group photo (barely enough room to walk between them). I didn't even really get a chance to walk through most of the field.

I was smitten by the Type 14 - one of my all time favorite cars. The blue Elan +2 is a local car and there was another there that I later learned had been driven to TX from NC by a husband & wife.

Seeing so many clean Europas was nice. I've never cared for them but they're starting to grow on me - I must not have liked them since most I'd seen were well-worn or racers. There were a few there that looked showroom new and were very nice.

The crunched front was a hard-luck contender. The owner had just finished the car in time for LOG. Upon firing it up in his garage, it lept forward and smashed the front a week prior to LOG - but that's not the kicker. It was completely repaired just in time for LOG - the damage here was from an Esprit backing into it the morning of the concours.

In the end, an Elise won. It was t-boned by a Volvo as the owner turned into the parking lot at the hotel - before they'd even checked in!

If anyone else was there and took pics, please feel free to contribute here!

Here's a few others I grabbed though....

I did grab some more shots of the 102B though... starting with the face full of unburnt race fuel I got. Mmmmmm, good stuff - even if my eyes felt as if I'd just been maced.

I would have lost my cool at that point- [Arlo Guthrie]"I wanna kill" [/Arlo Guthrie]

Were the Elise owners alright?

Yeah, they were just really bummed. They said it got the right rear wheel and just barely got the sill. The rear clam made it out unscathed. It sounded like the hit was just hard enough to tweak the upper A-arm.

I only saw one picture... "with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back 'splainin' what it meant."

They're signed up for the track day (in his Elise and her 911) and I think they're working out the logistics. The car was already taken to a local bodyshop and another owner has offered his car for track use!

A:
Glad to hear they did not get hurt. That really sucks

I think my hard luck vote would have had to go with the Europa owner though

Who owns the type 102?

Where's next year's log going to be, usually announced at the banquet.

Hey Chris!

I believe the 102 is from Barber's collection and next year LOG is being hosted by LOCO in Aspen Colorado (4th weekend in August I think...).

Thanks Kiyoshi,
Wow, guess CO will be another LOG I don't make.
