Dress Casual Driving Shoes

A&Q about Lotus

Q:
Is it just me or do both of these shoes suck for driving anything other than an Explorer? I need a pair of dress casual driving shoes that will work well in the Elise.

Personally, I don't think anything is sharper, with a pair of wool dress slacks, than these Adidas Goodyear high-tops.

have you looked at piloti.com? their touring & luxury line are comfortable enough for walking / being on your feet all day.
A:
Try JP Tod's. It's an Italian shoemaker. A little pricey, but it's a decent-looking driving shoe that doesn't look like one. their website () is pretty short on selection. www.raffaello-network.com has much more to choose from.

I was in Bologna a while back and bought a pair of Mossimo Dutti driving shoes that I LOVE, but I can't find them anywhere online.

Sparco makes a vintage racing boot that looks OK as well

Good Luck!

I bought these:

Ultra-light and mega comfortable.
Pricey but highly recommended.

You can get'em in your car's color too!

I wear something like this around the office on Fridays. But for casual dress I’d recommend the following:

Puma Phantom Black
Puma Sport Fashion Trazione (but way too spendy)
Puma Kart Cat 2 (white)
310 Motoring Jalpa (brown)
Adidas Originals Suede (tan)

Or just check out the almost 200 choices yourself on zappos.com .. I’ve ordered quite a few shoes from them since Minnesota isn’t exactly the fashion capital of the country

You can get'em in your car's color too! I was going to recommend Tsubo also. They have a nice, slim fit; good support; good style; and they'll last for more than a couple months (there are more styles than the ones above that aren't quite as loud & you could wear to the office). You can get them at a decent amount of department stores - I know that Nordstroms carries them for sure if you're looking to just go out and buy some. (edit: just looked at the Nordstrom website - they're down to pretty slim pickins on the Tsubos. Amazon has lots of 'em however.)

I also like London Underground for the same reason, but they're damn hard to find, especially in Men's.

Steve Madden also makes a couple shoes with a nice, smart look & on the slim side. I think they may even be called "race" or "pace" or something like that. I saw them at a Kenneth Cole store about 6 months ago... I think they may have a longish toe, though - ymmv.

Seriously, those are (almost) all stunningly ugly shoes...and I'm a guy! All I have are my tennis shoes, some Herman work boots, a pair of Italian Tod's loafers and five pairs of Cole Haans (one day on, four days off-they last forever that way). A nice pair of Cole Haan loafers, well-fitted, never get in the way of our pedal arrangement and they look great. If they were good enough for Fred Astaire to dance in, they're good enough for me to drive in.

I can't believe I'm writing about shoes...my wife would be sooo proud.

I just use "skate" shoes. Vans, Sketchers, whatever. Comfy, fit the Lotus footwell easy (I'm size 11), and I'm not stuck wearing a possibly tacky driving shoe when I get where I'm going.

Of couse, that's what I usually wear anyway.

Milehitom has the right idea. Not sure why everyone else is recommending casual shoes...

Go to Nordstrom or your local upscale mall. Plenty of driving loafers from Cole Haan, Tods, To Boot, Geox, etc. Whether you like the style is one thing, but certainly these will qualify as dress casual compared to standard Pumas, Addidas, etc.

GEOX,italian,resonable,good looking.

Do you have a Kypton Green Elise?

A:
Reebock Classics, they fit easily between the pedals and are very comfy to walk in. They come in black or white with accent colors. I got a pair for $25 when my wife bought a pair for full price at their outlet store.

Modern sneaks are too darn fat on the sole, the Rebock Classics have narrow soles, great arch support and good wear characteristics.

THESE are Krypton Green!

+1 for the Cole Haan loafers. These other shoes would look fairly silly with dress pants IMO. I drive every day with Cole Haans.

I guess I'm confused...is the goal casual or a dress shoe that is more casual? I got a great pair of Rockports that look like a serious dress shoe but are really comfy. The design is narrow with a squared toe.

They are great to drive in, good feel and narrow enough to give good pedal action.
A:
Tod's get my vote.. a real nice feel and look great with dress or casual wear
